Cross-City Electrification from Barnt Green to Bromsgrove

Worcestershire County Council's website has long stated that 'full' service will begin in December 2018, and the recent publicity release referred to an increase in services from 1 to 3 an hour, so I wondered whether this might be the case. During the day there are a few services that are...

    Handcarts

At Gotherington station on the GWSR the original station is privately owned and has its own siding with a pump trolley in the garden. It is private and not part of the GWSR, but very occasionally the garden is opened to the public, and I and the family had the pleasure of pumping ourselves...

Cross-City Electrification from Barnt Green to Bromsgrove

It looks like the 323s are scheduled to be extended to Bromsgrove on the 29th July, but with Barnt Green and Bromsgrove showing as unadvertised stops. Not sure whether this has any effect or not. From the 30th they are shown as in full public service.

    Stourbridge/Cradley to Worcester

There's an off peak Daytripper for £6.50 (with Swift) covering bus, tram and train in the West Midlands, but I don't know whether you can get an add-on for Worcester. However my first thought was - as you're travelling out of county - that I'd look at adding Stourbridge & Lye plusbus to your...

Cross-City Electrification from Barnt Green to Bromsgrove

Well something just ran from Soho depot to Bromsgrove - so maybe, just maybe, it's live!

Cross-City Electrification from Barnt Green to Bromsgrove

It's *probably* a 323, since it's coming out of Soho depot, it's a West Midlands Railway service, there'll be no shortage of 323s on a Sunday evening, and it would make sense to do a test run with a 323 into each of the platforms, but... ...and of course whether it runs or not depends whether...

Hi linuxlad7 - try this link http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/advanced/BMV/2018/05/20/0000-2359?stp=S&show=all&order=wtt&toc=LM Should show some test runs to Bromsgrove on Sunday 20th May. 5T62 (and some others) are the training runs that have been running for the last few weeks using...

Cross-City Electrification from Barnt Green to Bromsgrove

Not yet, but are those some 323s scheduled for the evening of the 20th (real time trains)? Keeping my fingers crossed!

    Incorrect printed tickets: Advice?

OK - it was a long time ago, but I did promise to give the outcome... West Midlands Railway have agreed to refund two failed ticket machine purchases (the money was taken, the TVMs hung for 5 minutes, then went through some sort of reset without making any attempt to issue any tickets - same...

Cross-City Electrification from Barnt Green to Bromsgrove

The timetable has been published*, and you're right, the turn round at Bromsgrove is generally between 5 and 8 minutes, but there are longer (25 min) turn rounds in the evening. *with a footnote to say that the starting date for the extending services is not yet confirmed

Cross-City Electrification from Barnt Green to Bromsgrove

I think there's been some overnight work going on this week. Looks like testing is close though - this is only a guess based on the realtime trains schedule; maybe somebody will know more - Network Rail testing 25th & 26th April? - First test with a 323 early hours 12th of May? I'm still...

Cross-City Electrification from Barnt Green to Bromsgrove

Looks like some training runs have been scheduled for 21st to 25th May between Barnt Green and Bromsgrove (not with a 323 though)

Cross-City Electrification from Barnt Green to Bromsgrove

Eh? Travelling in a 150 isn't always pleasant, but I don't think it's life-threatening! (Appreciate the concern, though!)

Cross-City Electrification from Barnt Green to Bromsgrove

At Bromsgrove today it looked like the wiring on all 4 platforms was just about finished. Couldn't see anything else because I was tightly jammed into a 2-car 150 with dirty windows!

Cross-City Electrification from Barnt Green to Bromsgrove

Network Rail have recently given the local paper a completion date of early May, with the start of service scheduled for 29th July after WMT driver training is completed. It looks like the extended services have now disappeared from the May timetable. Network Rail's spokesman also apologised...

    Incorrect printed tickets: Advice?

Maybe that's next but we'll wait and see what response we get first. I'll report back on what the outcome is - it's around £14 lost each time. As far as I am aware the TVM never starts trying to print, so it's not that the tickets are stuck in the chute, it seems that the card processing part...

    Incorrect printed tickets: Advice?

My wife has had a couple of TVM failures recently. Each time the machine froze for several minutes at the point the tickets should have printed, then returned to the initial screen. Assuming that the payment had failed, she re-entered the ticket details and the payment card and then the correct...

Cross-City Electrification from Barnt Green to Bromsgrove

I caught a train from the station last week and platform 1 appeared to have registration arms in place (mounted in the same way as platform 4), but they were folded to the side so they weren't as obvious. I'll take another look next time I'm there.

Cross-City Electrification from Barnt Green to Bromsgrove

Not just platforms 3 and 4. I was at Bromsgrove a few days ago and it looked like all 4 platforms were being wired. This was a surprise to me too. Platform 1 is already in (very) occasional use as a turn-back, but I wouldn't have thought that the wires on the fast platfoms (2 and 4) would see...
