Yes and no operator to run them. It's business and is no different to any other business that gets funding from shareholders. Would you put your money in the building society if you didn't get anything back?
Yes but another example of media hype. The news footage reports "conductor attacked" but instead of her being found beat up and left for dead, the text goes on to say that she was pushed out of the way when they left the train. Now I do not condone this sort of thing at all. These are nothing...
Having read a little on these "shocking" trains it would seem they were specified to have high capacity seating arrangements and my guess is that first class seating has been added as a result of franchise agreement or customer demand. I doubt very much whether the units are leaving the depot...
Yada, yada, yada. By your own admission it's fixed now if they've been told not to charge penalty fairs. If I'd been charged £20 when they were doing it I'd have pulled together the pictures at the beginning of this thread and complained. No joy? Take it to watchdog. Oh but wait, it's been...
Well look, I'm not saying it's right but I think the wording is OTT. I also think that your suggestion that the stickers are designed to trick people are equally OTT. Do you think TOCS are out to trick people? Lighten up.
Well tell them what you think but your terminology is OTT. It's a concern but it's not exactly life threatening. £500 for a ticket is outrageous and a drunk with a knife is shocking but inadequate stickers are inconvenient. I'm sure revenue collectors can be convinced of an innocent mistake if...
I think I'm quite customer focused and really want the railway to succeed and improve but if this is all the OP has to worry about to the level of "outrageous and shocking" then there isn't a lot going on in there.
Let them know what you think but fgs, get over it!
I would more than welcome their input on what there instructions are and what their preference would be.

I think that is still in the rule book
Fair enough buddy. I knew this might be emotive when I broached it and I am quite sure you don't go about your day with anything but good intention.

Err, I think most drivers would prefer not to get called into a meeting for any negative reason...
I've worked trains in both directions at Oxford Rd and Piccadilly on every platform including the bays. Incidentally, Platform 5 at Oxford Road will be taken out of use when the Northern Hub is complete. Lime St trains will start from Buxton or Hazel Grove.
I think I've done the same at...
I've instructed on then until recently. Unlocking of the doors while the train is in motion has been prohibited on all classes for some years now as it is deemed as equally dangerous as locking people inside a carriage. Have a read of page 11 of the Railway Group Standard...
I can assure you that the doors will not open by use of the egress handle until the train speed has dropped below approx 3mph on any class of unit in the UK if it is in mainline use.
All the PIS/CIS systems on most of the stations around Manchester have long line PA. They are capable of making announcements at any of the stations at any time. It's a shame they don't do it more often in times of disruption but I suppose it's a question of manpower. It would be particularly...
There is TOWS in a tunnel on a route that I sign but it is a single track in a double bore. They won't allow it otherwise unless a Signaller controls movements accordingly and or drivers are warned first. That's why the rules were changed and in any case, the last thing they would want to hear...
