To be fair Merseytravel, the beloved Metro Mayor, Merseyrail, Stadler and Network Rail should all be sharing the blame for the current mess, instead its the usual blame/scapegoat game.
Its not getting its service cut in half, theres 2 circuits out of 10 booked to be 8car. Don't be surprised if they aren't.
But yeah its not a good look.
Thats because linking the pis to the headcode was a total mess from the start.
The maps and station calling points will remain but the times will disappear with a forthcoming update as the pis will change to a manually inserted code rather than the trains headcode.
The track trip equipment is on the right hand side of the track (as is the trip cock under the train) so rear tripping is only generally a thing is theres some kind of item on the right hand side on the track at the other end.
In the case of bidirectional lines the train stop of the opposing...
All units should get a clean every night.
The main issues are a) stadlers determination to operate with as few staff as possible meaning the cleaners are spread quite thinly and b) in the case of the Wirral the sheer amount of locations the units are stored at compared to the Northern
No spares kept at Rock Ferry during the day, any units you see there are there for a reason ie a changeover or a fault. If a changeover is hapoening the replacement unit will come from elsewhere.
Birkenhead North depot or Kirkdale is where any spares are kept.

Sadly what you see is...
The overall journey time Southport to Liverpool is one minute longer than it was pre timetable change and with the many cautionary aspects you get coming down thanks to all the level crossings any extra time is very welcome.
I agree with you re the 8 cars though.
Hunts Cross trains are not always switching platforms at Central and if they do theres screens on the platforms and announcements, theres not much to be confused about on a narrow island platform.
To be fair they could sort asdo tomorrow, throw a couple of 8cars on Ormskirk to Hunts Cross (which is the plan) then decide to keep the timetable as it is.
Theres no law that says it has to revert back and frankly it works better as it is.
Get the customer information screens on the platforms to work properly. The amount of times they display incorrect (or no) information compared to national rail is always very noticeable to me.
Going off on a tangent here but I remember a fair few years back at merseyrail the 507/8s had a spell where the shoes where becoming fused to the live rail causing flashovers and costly damage. That was found to be the substance the mpv was laying on the live rail. Just shows anything can happen
