To be fair the Merseyrail services can be (& often are) full and standing all the way between Chester and Liverpool, the timetable is an absolute nightmare to keep to time with.
The intermediate stations between Hooton and Birkenhead also have the Ellesmere Port services to absorb extra footfall.
Bache to Chester has had longstanding issues with the power that flare up every so often with some other ongoing issues round Hooton.
Ormskirk to Town green, Liverpool South Parkway to Hunts Cross and Hightown to Hall Road all have power restrictions for 8 cars.

Pretty much. As a route code is being used to set up the pis rather than a headcode it considerably reduces the amount of codes the system needs to store.
Not as severe as not being able to use all electric trains but the 777s (esp 8 cars) do need to be used in half power at some locations and can struggle to draw power at others.
Green Lane only managed because the old stock had grandfather rights which meant the front /back doors on a 6 could be opened only on a little staff walkway. Announcements inside mentioned this.
Hamilton Square and Bidston are the other asdo platforms on Wirral.
So as new the pis was set up using the headcode for that particular service, for a variety of reasons its never worked very well.
The new way the pis works is via a route code which -although it will see the end of the timings on the internal route maps- should be more reliable
