Next batch of 48 BZL’s are due to begin delivery in July

The larger buses balance out for the low frequency and minimise the risk of failing to clear stops. A BZL is currently being trialled on the N14 however.

    McGill’s Midland Bluebird

I believe the Lothian van was there purely to get the vehicle moved as it was blocking the road - it left immediately after the road was opened so unfortunate that a picture was taken with it alongside. As for borders buses… they don’t directly compete so minor issues aren’t unknown for bus...

It is a shame, though the functionality is far greater and the system is designed for clear audio and visual communication giving the best and most up to date information. The list of commands that would need pre recorded would be endless without TTS. It also negates the need to update the...

All buses in the fleet will be fitted with this. It’s linked to the new AVL consoles. The text to speech, instead of previously used pre-recorded announcements ensures irregular information can be given in case of ad hoc road closures - for example an announcement of diversion, affected stops...

The entire service bus network will be run by East Coast. Eves drivers will drive both the X7 and old Eve’s routes from Dunbar. I expect the vehicles will be repainted shortly. The Eve’s brand will remain for the coaching side and work alongside Lothian Motorcoaches.

5 single decks will be moved to Eve’s depot and the 106 will be double deck

There are several improvements being made in East Lothian. Any services being lost from an area are being replaced with something new. Hopefully an announcement end of this week or early next week

In that case the entire bus and tram market must be around 16 people an hour!!

This screen has been available for a while, although the code isn’t well known. This would generally be used for photoshoot purposes, just like the “Lothian” screen which is often used. There are many screens which are available which aren’t ever used - it just depends if the driver knows it’s...

I believe another 50 are on order, though there seems to be issues with Volvo being able to deliver on time which is under review

I think the resale value for these vehicles will still be good for Lothian. A significant investment will be made for vehicles year on year to achieve Lothians net zero promise. There are orders in place already for more double deck vehicles, and options being explored for single deck and...

The new next stop announcement system is being worked on and is directly linked to the control room system. The ability to show diversions, temp and inoperative bus stops is there. I think once this is live across the fleet the benefit will be huge. This has been a major project for the...

I have on good authority that the remaining 30 BZL’s will arrive by end of December with a further 50 due in May.

Absolutely, buses weren’t lined up in their usual fashion and staff members cars were parked up where there would usually be time restrictions. The team did an excellent job to provide a service - it was very much as get the services resumed safely and efficiently rather than muck about with...
