Info request: WR allocated mk3 sleepers, 1988

Calling owners of Platform 5 coaching stock, summer 1988 edition (coz my copy was binned years ago and I've not found one on the Bay...). I'm trying to ascertain if the Night Riviera of the time included Mk3 SLE as well as SLEP. My memory suggests it was SLEP only; whenever I used it in '88...

    7mm JLTRT loco-kits: LMS 10000, 10001

Happened to be looking for something completely different and caught sight of these little beauties. :p 7mm kit for each of LMS 10000 and 10001, in their original workshop condition...

HMS St Albans in London Docklands

The rather impressive and imposing frigate HMS St Albans has visited my local turf this weekend. Bit more info about the event at these links: http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/threecounties/hi/people_and_places/newsid_9162000/9162118.stm...

    size IS important...

Noticed an article in today's business papers, that a German company has just acquired two strangely-related brands: Durex and Scholl Shoes. And then the marketing potential struck me: "Fitting you perfectly every time - from five inches to a foot"...

A brace of Britannias, 22nd Dec?

I've noticed that Weds 22nd December's Cathedrals Express jaunts are marked on UK Steam Info as hauled by 70000 Britannia PLUS 70013 Oliver Cromwell. However Steam Dreams website shows only 70000 as confirmed motive power. Are any of you able to say which is true?

    ASBO animals and furry trepassers

No, it's not a new show on CBBC. As my London-bound train departed Virginia Water this evening, three unperturbed foxes lay across the rails of a disused siding, nonchalantly watching the trains pass. I wonder if they leave fox-graffiti-tags on rolling stock, whilst the rest of us sleep...

Modelzone TPOs in stock (but not the 1959 livery)

Modelzone has updated its website since Friday, that - apart from the version in 1959 BR maroon - the TPO (POS) vans are now in stock. I've just ordered the 1986-liveried version. Here are links to their site... (red with white italic script)...

    O how long, Okehampton?

Whilst in Devon last weekend, ostensibly to photograph the Dainton action, I headed over to the delightfully restored Oakhampton station, on Dartmoor's fringe. And took a trip to & from Exeter Central, albeit on an Arriva Wales (!) Sprinter. A timeless and scenic route. I believe the...

Busy day at Dainton, 26th June

Looks like I'll be at Dainton Summit on Sat 26th June - Kernow Explorer, Cornishman, Mazey Daze and Cornish Riviera tours all running in the down direction. I've yet to find times though via my usual sources - pearls of wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Pullman Kitchen 1st, Callander & Oban line

I have photographic evidence of a Pullman Kitchen 1st (crimson lake in LMS days, maroon in British Railways steam-era), used on the former Callander & Oban line. I'm keen to learn more about this vehicle - number, history, operations (I think it was used exclusively on Glasgow-Callander-Oban...

Ten years since the last Deltic-hauled service train

Yes, it's true I happened to be browsing t'interweb and was getting all nostalgic about the days when D9000 "Royal Scots Grey" was rostered onto the 1S87 Ramsgate-Edinburgh service. I have numerous shots of the loco on this service, taken around SouthEast division and Western main lines...

Info request: good photo location along Gloucester-Worcester line?

I'm hoping for advice, from a resident RailUKForums expert I want to take shots of the "Welsh Marches" tour, Saturday 16th May, for the leg being hauled by the pair of Tyseley-based Castles. My first photo-stop is on Llanvihangel Summit; and I'm thinking of catching a second photo-stop...
