That comment could of course apply to Lothian Country when they entered West Lothian
Will get really interesting once a new network is launched and LC no longer have areas to themselves once again.
Sorry, didn't Lothian copy the Eastern Scottish /SMT Livery and also route numbers to try and imitate a former operator in the area?
And let's not speak about directly copying the First route x25 with 280 and 26 with 281. All of course is fair in love and war, so they say.
No use crying when...
Let us be clear the Lothian Country whole strategy was to copy a previous West Lothian strategy from bus colours to route numbers, so I see little mileage in getting too upset now that McGills have decided to reincarnate the original colours of set up they have bought and I would think they will...
Let's be honest, First's reputation in West lothian was in tatters to the extent it was almost unsalvageable. If, and its a big if, McGills can improve reliability and punctuality and get fares correct they could succeed. They may also tread where First couldn't and put other routes in place...
All staff have been notified. I'm not sure when the official announcement will be made, although it was late afternoon today when the news broke. It will be very soon I'd imagine.
Are you doubting this is happening? As I can assure you as of Monday 19th September the whole operation transfers to McGills.

Reliability, punctuality, and passenger confidence, all of which were gone under First, especially in West Lothian.
Not sure how this take over will effect depots especially LIvingston which is quite out of McGills current operating areas.
Bright Bus Tours is another area you struggle to see carrying on
Interesting times ahead for sure and you wonder how Edinburgh City Council will feel now regards 20, 63...
Oh without doubt that will have an effect on most operators network and Jeanette Bell has already begun planning for post subsidy life within first group and no doubt First Scotland East will see many changes going forward.

The main issues now are late shifts and weekends ,not...
There are no plans to cut services, they will see it out and after September 12th and reduction on 20,63 and should go a long way to addressing staffing levels on West Lothian services
As I said last week, no other operator could facilitate the services with the current driver issues so this was the compromise.
As stated this will have a knock on effect on West Lothian services with approx 12/15 drivers less required on City routes and with Bright Bus Tours (BBT) coming to...
There are no changes to the 68 timetable,it continues on present timetable .
Yes it services locals to both Gyle and Corstorphine shops.

The 20.63 and 68 will remain with First for the time being, expect a reduced frequency to be announced though. This will free up approx 15 drivers...
Current timetables to remain until at least 11th September.

Routes will remain with First on a reduced frequency, still to be confirmed how reduced though.
It would seem the current driver shortage means no other operators are interested in the routes.
Disgruntled Employees are never a great barometer to judge how depots are run, the anti social hours, the lack of work life balance and the poor fleet are more of concern ,the first 2 are an industry wide issue these days where there are many options in transport with far more suitable hours and...
It is not going anywhere; the cuts were made out of necessity but have been mostly covered by Bright Bus Tours monies.
There are now more under 22s travelling on First services than prior to the concession card being introduced when First were in some places double the price of competition, so...
