Central Rivers is currently contracted to deliver 70 voyagers to XC and 5 222s to Lumo, admittedly not all on Central Rivers at the same time. Prior to August 2025 I believe there was a cap on the number of trains Alstom would supply which is why I understand that a 220 spent a number of months...
Exactly the point Russel, and more importantly I assume that Hitachi have to hand the 222s back to the Rosco for dilapidation checks in FULL WORKING ORDER !!!
I think some of us remember how long it took TPE to hand back their last Mk5 set - at 30mph from Wolverton works back to Longsight, and...
Just checking. Presume passengers from Oxford / Winslow etc for Bedford presumably have to allight at the High level platform and go down steps / lift to the platform to catch the MV service. Is it far ?
Pretty shocking really for a modern EMU, particularly a Siemens built unit.
For me it calls into question the fleet still being based on "diesel drag away" from EMR's own routes. I am guessing EMR cannot access the Cauldwell depot where the 319s were serviced back in the day. I am assuming that...
I am intrigued by what can be considered more preferable in terms of testing. Pootling round the circular track at Long Marston at 25mph, or belting up and down the RIDC at Melton at up to 125mph, although obviously having to stop and change ends.
I notice there is a youtube clip of 810004 at...
Well all I can say is good luck. The ex AWC 221s that have been returned to use by XC are not the most reliable in the fleet, and they stood for a shorter time than these six.
Gonna be interesting
In relation to this question, how was 99011 moved from the factory, and to which port to be loaded onto the ship ? That might give a clue as to which ships from that port might tbe worth watching
If they have been signed off by EMR they I guess they need to be at EP to be sorted out. If not though perhaps they should be dumped at Chaddesden, or sent back to Newton Aycliffe.
AIUI EMR had 27 class 222s before the first five sets were stood down, and all were at least five cars. So I...
I would have thought the 222s would be in a different part of Etches Park to the 810s for maintenance, but maybe not.
The point is that 222s can only reduce in number as 810s increase, so it really is a dynamic balance - this assuming each 810 now becomes a one for one with a 222, and multi...
erm no !!! You could argue that Alstom might be struggling to deliver the number of voyager diagrams for XC, especially as the six car Lumo 222s need to be split onto two roads in the shed designed for five coach units. Obviously CZ was designed to maintain the entire 78 unit fleet of Virgin...
I am not an engineer or techie so apologies if I have misinterpreted it, but I think there is a subtle difference here.
The 5 car 222 had five Cummins QSK19s each spinning a traction alternator which delivers via the Agate electrical system to a traction motor at each end of each car driving the...
Correct. It is DfT's modus operandi.
Whiles Elstow was closed there were plans in place to fetch some ERS stock from Gt Yarmouth with a 66 and couple a 57 on the other end at Leicester to operate shuttles. DfT wouldn't allow it to be funded.
If this were a decent UK rail industry there...
New trains are obviously a big problem, but I am more interested in why Hitachi are not delivering enough 222s for service everyday.
Last week and prior, there were mostly six 810s in traffic every day. Theoretically six new 810s a day easily covers stood down 222s to Lumo and 222104...
Thanks Liam, and would all of those diagrams being singles - obviously diagrams are individual units anyway, but are there any multi 222 services anymore ?
Difficult to judge but I assume the 398s will release a mix of Stadlers and maybe a few 150s. Presume the Stadlers cascade onto what they were bought for and the 150s go in the bin. The whole thing seems so haphazard in South Wales at the moment which makes TfW up north appear a paragon of...
Whilst that is true and I agree, have I heard somewhere that EMR have temporarily withdrawn a very important facility, but cannot remember if it was seat reservations or First class.
This is all about Hitachi not meeting it's obligation of simultaneously winding down "it's" Meridians at the...
