    220001 formation?

I believe 220027 is a long term stopper needing a new cab. Car 60701 in 220001 also has significant problems so CA have swapped he 607xx cars over so that when 220027 gets repaired they will need to fic 60701 in it.

    Class 175s to GWR

Did 175103 ever make it out of Wolverton ? I think I read that is the first green one.

    Class 175s to GWR

Yes. I suppose Heidi would have to be the mouthpiece but the fleet clearly were never going to be match fit, even if there was adequate and timely crew training. to introduce them. Running two car DMUs on the mainline in Devon and Cornwall in the height of the Summer season is plain crazy, but...

    The loading of container trains

Thanks very much to "zwk500" for the video - really really useful. There is one puzzle I have had for years, and which doesn't actually apply to our UK trains - how do the stacks of containers get locked together on "doublestacks" and on ships. I am assuming there are locking brackety type...

    Banking trains in the UK

Not read the book so not sure if there is a mention of an incident on tbe bank one night involving the 2x37 bankers. A driver working a freight from Gloucester to Bescot which was diagrammed a "small engine" a 25 or a 31 but cant remember. This driver was having a lot of issues going on at home...

WCRC loses judicial review in High Court

Like all other operators of slam door passenger stock have. A real no brainer really but the words "goose" "Golden egg" and "Jacobite" seem to resonate in my head. During the winters of 2024 and 2025 David Smith could have had 12 or 14 Mk 1s in the works and fitted them with (vacuum /...

    National express West Midlands

Can anyone please hint at how things might work for non NXWM bus companies in the region like Diamond. Quite few years ago the 31 and 32 circulars between Walsall and Bloxwich were set up as West Midlands Bus with red liveried 12 and 62 plate Wright Eclipses. The NXWM fleet still tensd to work...

EMR Class 222’s - declining reliability

How many are Northern having ? because they didnt take all the 323s

First Rail Stirling (Lumo) Rolling Stock

Interesting snippet. Who operates Ferme Park depot ? Hitachi maybe ? Assume it is based on what level of service Lumo have agreed with Hitachi for the 222s. Another factor might be that the 222 simply cannot get to the CET pad due to planned Azuma activity there.

EMR Class 222’s - declining reliability

7 out of 21, albeit one of the fleet probably wont ever return to traffic but we ae still talking about 33.333% in service - out of a fleet of modern Siemens units which are pretty amazing. Perhaps they should dig a couple of pairs of 350/2s out of Long Marston.

Stopgap options to cover for delays to introduction of Class 810 for EMR?

In fact the class 222 is more similar to the class 220. Neither have tilt and both have the same inside framed bogies. Were DFTO to be fully operational with both XC and EMR in house, a simple "old Railway" move would have been to diagram the six ex AWC class 221s to class 220 diagrams...

    Trivia: Strangest bus stop names.

The bus service I really need to ride is the NXWM 530 from Wolverhampton to Rocket Pool. Sounds a fascinating place and bus legend Mark Fitchew has been there https://buscapade.wordpress.com/2025/07/19/the-battle-for-rocket-pool/

    EPR (Europhoenix Rail) - Class 60s - (Ex-ESH / DBI Rail / Land Recovery)

I am only guessing but I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of the locos will be needing the same components, which were probably already exchanged. wheelsets, turbos, starter motors, alternators, compressors etc. Don't know if class 60s have cannon tubes but I remember some debate about...

Stopgap options to cover for delays to introduction of Class 810 for EMR?

It is whatever the the TOC contracted with the Rosco. We don't know that, but we do know that generally rolling stock has a handback examination. Not sure how this is done but where the CAF Mk5s were concerned it apparently took a lot of work for thew Rosco to received them back. But life...

    EPR (Europhoenix Rail) - Class 60s - (Ex-ESH / DBI Rail / Land Recovery)

I think many components have codes stamped on them so imagine spome components are traceable if they fall into legitime hand. White Moss need a few alsatians and bulldogs to move in

Stopgap options to cover for delays to introduction of Class 810 for EMR?

Quite agree. A motivated team keep doing what they are paid to do by their bosses, so if they have spent X years maintaining 222s, then nothing will have changed in their workplace. UNLESS Hitachi have taken them off 222 maintenance and focused them on 810s. The facts are 1) The 810s are...
