OPC test for what I described, yes I've had that.

Avanti - Trainee Train Driver - Wolverhampton (17/01/22)

I've not had that. I've only had a link to a questionaire asking for my basics and "some questions about how you like to work and what you know about Avanti West Coast and the driver role. There will also be some questions about how you would manage different situations." No PDF, and nothing...

    Prospects for new railway employees

Blunt answer: drivers are safe and will continue to be so. Everyone else will be ****ed and superbly at their cost.

    Chiltern TM roles update

I and a railway friend have both applied for XC. He applied for both Senior Conductor and TM roles, I just for TM role. The XC role he should be a shoe in for but we shall see. Good luck to everyone as well! :)

    TFW Trainee Conductor Talent Pool

As I understood, new intake conductors were all for the Valleys. Mainline is like a link to step upto as and when needed?

    TFW Trainee Conductor Talent Pool

Having spoken to friends today, a mate in Cardiff applied 20th Dec on a whim and has been invited for SCAAT testing already. Meanwhile I'm still listed as "shortlisting" for my Shrewsbury application. A second friendly, already in the industry, applied to tfw in 2019 and never heard anything -...

    Guards assessment OPC

Drivers have two lives but guards don't. As for inconsistency - agree. One friend applied for another TOC, got told to email the hiring managers directly with their CV and was then boosted to final interview. It seemed a done deal.

    TFW Trainee Conductor Talent Pool

I applied end of October, got my app in a weke ebfore the new close date of 9th Nov, as originally it had been for 2nd Nov. Heard nothing. I understand other people have had SCAAT tests and someone who works on the railway tells me they got an invite to next stage or interview in Nov-Dec just...

Rail services winding down early on hogmanay

WMT are running full schedules, much to the emptiness of trains.

Toxic Mix of Pre-Christmas Exodus and Staff Shortages

Little bit back on topic - WMT are as predicted, absolutely snowed under wtih cancellations. Snow Hill lines and Shrewsbury line as if 5pm is absolutely dire coverage. Thankfully I can use the TFW services but thinking of those travelling to/from abellio-only stations who once again, suffering...

Toxic Mix of Pre-Christmas Exodus and Staff Shortages

Suspect West Midlands Trains will be a pinchpoint. Although no announcement to the travelling public (not as if they care...) their name came up in a "rogue's gallery" list on a BBC report. Furthermore, with WMT having increased the difficulty of working conditions recently (lots of two car...

When Will It All Go Wrong For The Tories/ Johnson?

Sorry but speaking to someone who lives in Shrewsbury - it's not the "Asian name" that turned people off the election. It was the fact he wasn't local. Neil Shastri was, as GusB has said, from Birmingham and was "parachuted in" as opposed to actually being representative of the area. Combine...

    Avanti's... interesting Twitter policy

It did read a little bit snippy, didn't it? Avanti have apologised and hopefully Sean hasn't lost his job.

West Midlands Trains: Train crew unavailability

Do you mean the May 2019 timetable recast that caused the Snow Hill lines to convulse, have seizures and essentially break down as they crammed trains into times that were lag time for more established services as well as create trains that were totally unnecessary (class example: 1845 dep BSW -...

West Midlands Trains: Train crew unavailability

Van Der Velde was just as complicit as the Milk Thief was. They did both leave - when Abellio nearly got stripped of the franchise. However their legacy and ethos lives on.
