Perhaps I shouldn't have used the word simulator but instead said, a computer based application to test both reactions and concentration.
For instance - you could have a view a bit like from a cab, i.e moving landscape (using graphics though) and you pass markers on each side that have 2,3, 4...
I didnt say I think they are appropriate, but as time goes by things are improved on - E.g The hazard perception test was introduced for car driving tests.
I'm not talking about a train simulator type game but something specifically designed for this purpose.

I agree but a simpler PC based application could be used with a bespoke control panel (like for the reactions test). The candidate then uses the simulation for say half an hour - this could then be used to replace the concentration test and the reactions test and would be more realistic than...
Arr yes I was thinking of the cables and dials test! - again I got about 2/3 of the way through (So did most) and got a good pass.
The fault finding test examples are just what they are like on the day (Method wise) - yes some of them are more involved as they may have more than one fault you...

So be prepared to have a long wait!
Its reading gauges, dials etc, cross checking information then selecting the results from the given data.
Its a bit hard to explain without diagrams. However if you get invited to the tests you will get an example booklet which I found very clear and will show you exactly what is expected.
Has anyone got email address for the author of this app? I'm not after the program I just want to send him a message. Slight possibility I can help him out.
Hello welcome to the Forum! Have you done the driver tests before? (Privately perhaps)
If so they will be checked, and if your results meet the required standard you will be invited to the Mangers interview. If you haven't done the tests before you may be asked to do them first.:D
Those that have done the managers interview.
Did you have a test where a mock situation/incident has occurred and you are given the information on it. You then have relay that information on?
Have you sat an interview where you are first asked to write down your answers to several questions on life experiences that are nothing to do with the railways? (Your answers might be) After that you are then questioned on those answers.
If not I'm guessing its the 'standard' structured...
Yep - I agree mostly, but in my case I found the structured interview much less intense and the final interview very intense (My final interview was at a different place to Mix).
