Borderlands line: alternatives to class 230 operation and any other strategies to improve reliability?

More a case of £30m spent and rather than question who/why made that decision and look inept/corrupt, best to sweep under the carpet and pray they get them working. Personally, I'd be looking through Vivarails bank accounts for bungs / holidays / cars / sweetners / off shore payments etc etc...

Class 230 units training/introduction on the Borderlands line: updates

Welcome to nationalisation / micro-management, where civil servants make commercial decisions with zero knowledge of the subject, and keep getting moved to other departments before the crap hits the fan.

Class 230 units training/introduction on the Borderlands line: updates

008 and 010 started today. 010 lasted to mid morning, 009 lasted to midday. A few hours of nothing, and 008 gets ripped off the training runs to provide a service. But if they actually spent £30m on these units, then I have some magic beans for sale for just £3m.....

Class 230 units training/introduction on the Borderlands line: updates

Clearly a decision was made higher up then as it was stated on the platform information screens at Shotton, plus the ticket office lady was very apologetic. Didn't affect me as I was going north.

Class 230 units training/introduction on the Borderlands line: updates

I went for them today.... 008 was on the training runs. 010 failed on 2F58 in the morning, limped to Bidston and went to depot. Its next outing 2J60/2F70 were cancelled and no bus was available. It was taken to depot and returned for 2J68/2J76 trips. 007 struggled on 2F62 and 25 mins late when...

Yes, I have had 7 of them today, and like the Anglia ones, they really are lovely trains with a super turn of speed uphill. If only they would become the default UK DMU.....

Severn Valley Railway (SVR): News and updates

I'm seeing/hearing 88004 is going instead, which as I only need 004/008 is mightily annoying and will involve the extremely brave "duck out of wife's family BBQ" move on Saturday.... I have tickets for all 3 days but was going to settle for Thurs/Friday just enjoying whatever arrives.

Moving 007 by 4 separate lorry loads rather than towing it must cost a fortune too. Must have money to burn.
