Two refurb rakes out.
Two in Wabtec which only need internal refurb rather than a full rewire so should take a shorter time. One arrived this week, one more advanced in the programme.
Apparently there is an option to use another HST set from somewhere which may be sat spare.
Virgin don't...
The cost of a special build of just 2 cars would be astronomical and is highly unlikely it would be even contemplated.

There will eventually be 5 sets; 4 out and 1 spare/on maintenance per day.
2x Yorkshire-S.West-Scotland (stabling at EC)
2x Scotland-S.West-Yorkshire (stabling at NL)
Leaseco's (IIRC HSBC in this case) won't sell stock containing asbestos to an individual. They will only sell to an established ltd company/railway, which presents a problem.
Buy a gutted unit and OK it may have no asbestos, but it will look just like this and you may as well not bother...
Complete and utter jibber (along with the rest of your comments on this subject!)
These things happen unfortunately and can't be forseen. Just one of those things...
And yes, we arrived back at Intl somewhere in the region of 0100 today.

Confusing the Romanian/British split are 56031-055 which, although British built machines, retained the cleaner Romanian style cab fronts.
Running as a 7-car until the timetable change partly due to running to Voyager timings until then.
It's even got the Voyager style 'bing bong' announcements.
