Kent & East Sussex Railway Golden Anniversary Gala June 2024. Some of the most bats**t crazy loco driving up Tenterden bank I've ever seen!
Close second would be the West Somerset Railway's Spring Steam Gala last year, for the sheer varirety of locos in use
The original advance tickets were bought way back on 16th February as soon as Bedlington was confirmed to open via the LNER website
Outbound LNER £25.40
(This is the one i was trying to refund)
Return Lumo £31.20
I then bought the Super Off Peak Single and attempted the refund on the 23rd...
Ahh noted. I didnt amend as i was under the impression that you would only be able to choose another advance (LNER being the way it is Haha) and my preferred retailer is Southeastern.
I was just a little worried it might have looked a bit dodgy from their end and thats why i hadnt heard back...
Hi
I bought an advance from London Kings Cross to Newcastle for Saturday 4th April. I later realised this was the easter bank holiday weekend so bought a new Off Peak Single ticket for Friday 3rd.(this was purchased on the Southeastern website) I then refunded the ticket that i no longer needed...
Hey
Im visiting the new stations around Birmingham on Saturday. I was wondering, is a Birmingham Stns to Wolverhampton Off Peak Day Return valid on both the new route via Darlaston as well as the old route via Sandwell & Dudley?
Ive somewhat lost track as to whether Wellington is definitely going ahead or not, but the below article on the BBC website sounds positive...

Can confirm, the new footbridge at Hoo Junction is now open. Great location for spotting trains coming out of the yard!

100% agree with this, Longton is one of the very few places on the national network where ive genuniely felt uneasy while waiting for the train, the town centre is also a place to avoid at all costs after dark.
To be honest, all the stations in the Stoke on Trent urban area match the critieria...
Went to the NRM for the first time in 10 years at the end of September. What is up with the diversion that takes you round the whole site, just to get to the front entrance??
As for improvements, i really enjoyed the new-ish mezzanine library/archive, spent more time reading books than looking...
Awesome!
When i was investigating earlier, the Caledonian Sleeper Website wasnt allowing me to select Glasgow QS-Fort William as a journey option. How do i go about getting a seat reservation?
Hi guys
I am exploring the West Highland Line this September and have purchased the excellent value Highland Rover. I was wondering, however, if this is this valid on the Caledonian Sleeper between Glasgow Queen Street and Fort William (departs 5:48), as it effectively acts as the first train of...
Ancedotal evidence/opinion alert:
Ive seen/heard people grumble about gala days and the fact that must surely not be able to pay it way with the hiring in of locos and such...
And yet these events are normally (the ones ive been to at least) have been packed to the rafters. Returning to the...
Phwoarrrrr mate!!! :D
By far one of the best railway events ive ever been to! So much to see i barely had enough time to cram it all in (entered just after 11am). Almost everything went incredibly well bar one queue for a loco that i eventually gave up on after 20 minutes of waiting. Aside from...
So ive had a 16-25 Railcard for the last couple of years and have recieved an email to get it renewed (im oficially getting old ;) )
When signing into my account and selecting the 26-30 railcard the only option is to get a digital copy. Have all plastic railcards been discontinued?
