Time for something totally different from me...as the sun went down 56301 is seen in charge of ex-Butterwell Coal on the ECML. I fancied a bit of a change and wasn't too put off by the somewhat unusual lighting angle, I personally feel it is the warm glow that makes the shot work for me :)...
Wrapping up June, a trip to Devon for the Mazey Day Tours, the weather was a little too changeable for the distance I had to travel! I will just have to go back again some other time ;)
D9009 on the Mazey Day Cornishman heading past Langstone Rock with a matching rake of Mk1s...
Distinctly average I'm afraid....60019 on the 'Loopy Donught' charter at Sudforth Lane. The sun briefly appeared from behind the muck as I balanced atop my ladder, only to dip as the train got close enough for a shot.

With blanket cloud cover I almost didn't leave the house, but with some varied traction on offer and the sun breaking through in the end I was glad I decided to head out in the end! Ta to JS for the lift, glad the bike wasn't needed in the end ;)

A couple more days out in the sun for the Wensleydale Railway Diesel Gala and a chance for some early-season loco hauled traffic to Scarborough in the form of 47802 and 47501 from DRS. the weather was mostly good but the clouds had to be dodged!
My favourite shot, 47802 rounds the bend at...
A local trip, with no sun to be had I decided to try out a few different angles for some added interest! It was nice to track down a couple of locations for later use and it was another excuse to play with the new camera :D

A trip 'down south' today to catch 56091 on the flyash before the working ceases to run. Having regretted my decision not to do a shot on the branch I was glad that the shot came good for the return working :D

A pair of 73s on the MML, a new camera and a chance of sun were a decent opportunity, and I couldn't resist a shot at Meadow Lane. Sadly no sun, but the bright coloured ensemble was captured some 40mins early on the slow lines...

Another trip to the west today, 56302 departing a sunny Blea Moor as 6Z70 loaded timber ex-Ribblehead. Far better than yesterday's shoddy WCML effort...

With sun forecast and a long weekend upon us, a trip to the Aire Valley was certainly in order to record shots of three WCRC ECS' returning to base at Carnforth Steamtown.
The first train of the day, headed by blue 57313, ran mercifully late, getting the sun on the nose for the approach to...
A day up on the S&C with mixed results after the clouds kept coming and going. Some serious hiking for the two landscape shots but the scenery never fails to make me stop and smile :)

I very nearly didn't venture out this evening as the weather was highly 'iffy', going from full sun to dull every few minutes, but some truly breathtaking cloud formations and opportune sunny spells made for a cracking evening...
