WSMR to operate as part of Chiltern

Interesting that Wrexham & Shropshire will retain its own brand identity. I didn't expect that upon clicking the link. And the first statistic I've seen related to passenger numbers: "Market for travel between Wrexham, Shropshire and London [has grown] by 68%". This will be good; I imagine we...

    Chiltern automated announcements

Do people not find announcements by the staff MORE annoying? I find they often require more attention over what is usually a poor quality mic/speaker system.

The 175s have to be the worst. The intonation is completely wrong. :|

    WSMR new timetable

The Shropshire Star, the highly reputable paper that it is, has just published a snippet evidently sent in by WSMR to alert us to a faster new timetable coming in next month although I'm yet to see evidence of this on the booking engines. Ah sorry, I think I meant the 13:15.

    WSMR new timetable

Great. I'd been using the 2003 MYB departure a fair bit recently. However if the retiming means that it's better patroned, that can't be a bad thing. I wonder if the 9.01 Shrewsbury and 15:15 Marylebone departure I discovered and posted on the refurbished stock thread will see the light of day.

    Wrexham and Shropshire refurbished stock

I assume you work somewhere in the industry, are you able to tell me, the layman, what those trains were doing bookable on the system? Simply a screw-up? Cheers!

    Wrexham and Shropshire refurbished stock

Following some advice in the Dec09 timetable thread and I've found a few additional weekday services, both by WSMR and Arriva. I'm not sure how timetables really work, but surely if I'm able to book tickets with these timings on thetrainline, that means they're confirmed? Have only included...

    Wrexham and Shropshire refurbished stock

I have a feeling that the airline seats have been moved to the end of the carriages to facilitate window alignment. This photo showing the back of the seat on the right seems to suggest that. I could of course be very wrong!

    Wrexham and Shropshire refurbished stock

I wasn't expecting to be this impressed with the interior, but I am.. great job! http://geoff-plumb.fotopic.net/p60895280.html http://geoff-plumb.fotopic.net/p60895278.html http://geoff-plumb.fotopic.net/p60895279.html Edit: I just found these online, I'm not the lucky photographer :)

    WSMR online ticket booking booking

Just looked up booking tickets for a few days time and it would seem either that more advance tickets have been released (although capacity is of course limited) OR demand has significantly dropped. Tues to Sat this coming week has swathes of £10.00 (£6.60 YP) and £14.00 (£9.20) tickets...

    ATW submit to ORR

I would be interested in WAG's response to such a request. As I understand it, hourly Aber-Shrews(-Intl) is being sought by 2011 or so, should this not be a priority rather than direct sevices to London? That would perhaps enable paths to be used for WSMR, who are already 'established' and...

    WSMR online ticket booking booking

Interesting. However, would this require a Wrexham or Shrewsbury to Marylebone working? eg. ~13.23 departure of Wrexham, arrival ~17.23?

    Wrexham & Shropshire successful

Virgin have not pulled their Wrexham-Chester-Euston services, they have withdrawn plans to run Shrewsbury-Birmingham-Euston services which would have competed to a greater extent with WSMR.

    Wrexham & Shropshire successful

I just picked this up; odd because I'm not sure I 'supported' WSMR, but I am on their mailing list. This bit does atleast signal some hope, though I hope it does mean more trains a day in the works, because that is after all what was lost by Virgin pulling out.

    WSMR and Birmingham Stations

Could someone then clarifiy which services travel via New Street, therefore making a Saver Return routed via Birmingham Stations valid for travel with WSMR? To my understanding such a ticket would then allow travel on those trains, say outbound, and then for travel using alternative/indirect...

    Virgin Voyager Coach VS MK3

Having not travelled with Wrexham & Shropshire in a while and taking only Arriva 158s or LM 170s into New Street, it occured to me when in an Mk3 just how quiet - and smooth - the journey was in comparison. That was ultimately something I didn't realise would be of such great importance. And...
