W/S down to 3 a day from December

The end of WSMR and the start of WCML services to Shropshire? Yes, that would be a shame.:|

W/S down to 3 a day from December

I'm a little surprised the opportunity wasn't taken to grow day-tripping demand with a 10.15 or 12.15 arrival into Marylebone. It does render their 'Open' tickets somewhat redundant considering a VHF London-Brum and Brum-Shrewsbury-Aber/Chester connection is only a few pounds more off-peak.

    Wrexham & Shropshire fare increases

Sorry, I travel from Shrewsbury so my 'under 3 hours' refers to from SHR. I highly doubt that'll be achievable until Evergreen 3..

    Wrexham & Shropshire fare increases

Considering these rises, I continue to find it odd that the fare is not staggered between Cosford and Shrewsbury? This effectively means Telford travellers are subsidising those from Shrewsbury. The real problem here, however, is that the £50 fare now takes it above the off-peak return for...

    WSMR satisfaction now 99%!

I think we're all talking somewhat pie in the sky, aren't we? Yes, Chiltern are running an insulated line with external operating problems caused only by delayed CrossCountry services. Somewhat different with other franchises whose networks span far greater. But I would contest that a...

    WSMR satisfaction now 99%!

An East Coast bid backed by the financial clout of Deutsche Bahn and the operational excellence of Chiltern Railways? Wouldn't want that, no.

    WSMR satisfaction now 99%!

I'm pleased someone else got smacked down (thefab444) for pointing out the obvious before I were to. 99% satisfaction is a commendable achievement yet having now done two such surveys for WSMR (I rate them well, might I add) and a few for other operators over the years I can't help but think...

    wsmr bring back 20.03 departure

There ideally needs to be a 7.07 and 9.07 departure either side of the usually very well patroned 8.07 from Shrewsbury, however I'm not sure what the busiest departures from London are other than the 18.33. I've been on a few fairly packed 16.30 trains. Anybody travel regularly on WSMR services?

    Deutsche Bahn 'nears Arriva deal'

I was under the impression present franchisees have had their franchises renewed before their expiry? Chiltern, for example? Or has this only occured when such clauses were already existant in contracts?

    Deutsche Bahn 'nears Arriva deal'

That said, imagine if rail liveries worked on a similar basis to London Buses.

    Deutsche Bahn 'nears Arriva deal'

This is the impression I have had with Deutsche Bahn's involvement in Chiltern Railways and in turn Chiltern's in Wrexham & Shropshire. However, I'd imagine that there will be some interest in getting an early renewal on the All Wales franchise if there is investment? I spotted via Google News...

Presumably journey times and service frequencies.

Linking the Bakerloo and the city

Amazing. I go past Spur Road every day and never noticed that. Certainly wouldn't have realised it was for the W&C.

IIRC the 'WAG Express' was organised pretty damn quickly.

Rail franchise declared not fit for purpose

I suspect this may be in relation to the potential London workings and therefore not part of a wider refurbishment programme?

Rail franchise declared not fit for purpose

One word: refurbishment. While the 150/3s(?) appear to have been recently refurbished and are OK (although I can't say I'd want to commute on them) and the 175s are newer trains, their 158s are very unpleasant. I've no experience of South Wales services so can't comment there.

Rail franchise declared not fit for purpose

I'm nicking Transport Briefing's headline which refers to Arriva Trains Wales. Although I'm sure any subscriber to the site won't want nor be allowed to post the article here, might they be able to say what's going on? There's news surfacing about a £5bn wish list / plan for Wales' railway...

    Wrexham & Shropshire seating.

Changing in Birmingham wouldn't be the same price, special fares apply to WSMR services. I find it odd that there is a path available when there are supposedly very few slots to add further services. Can anyone comment?

W/S extra coach & speed up

I guess the difference in loadings probably explain that. On my last journey with them I did a national passenger survey. I was a little disappointed it wasn't an internal questionnaire. While I have not experienced the first class food, the 'standard class' buffet food is generally poor. I...

ATW - Threat to WSMR and Evergreen 3?

I was in support of any future services running via Shrewsbury but having now sampled Wrexham & Shropshire's new stock, I don't see how anyone in their right mind would choose to use an ATW 158, albeit refurbished, all the way from Aber to London. Infact, 3 hours is long enough aboard one train...
