I guess that was taken when it was relatively quiet. The picture doesn't do justice to the traffic volumes through the yard. The size of the yards is enormous - if you were to make a model of them in OOn gauge you would need a room 300 feet x 30 feet to fit in all the track.

Thanks for your detailed advice. I think I will concentrate on the loco hauled services so would appreciate any help that identifies the loco-hauled services from Dublin to Cork and also on the Dublin to Belfast route. If I then get time I might do one of the other routes you recommend.
