    MP calls for Dawlish Bypass

There would be uproar, if that every happend. Also it would be very bad for the city which now relies on the train network, after the short sighted council decided to close the airport, the city lacks the transport links it needs. Do you know why the proposals to electrify down this far never...

    MP calls for Dawlish Bypass

Plymouth will never be electrified! The reopening of the plymouth to tavistock line makes the odd 8 miles of track from tavistock to okehampton alot cheaper then making a new tunnel. However wou would need to double it and that wont happen.

Potential Bidders for the next Greater Western franchise

I agree and this is why i dont understand why they merged the Wessex and Greater Western Franchise! I was always against that, but hey ho they thought it was a good idea. I really think they should re-split the franchises. Let first concentrate on improving and creating a good main line London...

Tavistock to Bere Alston possible reopening: what infrastructure could be required and what service provision might operate?

This is a very important idea/point. I think we should all do this. Or do they really care about the Drake Line? Apart of Kilbride there is not alot of information on this reopening!

What warrants a station being operated by Network Rail?

What warrants a station being operated by Network Rail? Is it the amount of passengers that use the station or is it location wise? Is it just the lagrest stations? What do they gain by managing these stations? I just find it really strange that they would take on this work. Is it becuase...

Potential Bidders for the next Greater Western franchise

Virgin operating local services in Cornwall and Devon, that would be an interesting deleveopment if it happened. The only thing i have agaianst first is the trains and the amount of space you have in the carriage, you feel cramped and unable to move. Not nice! im 6ft and i actually cant bend...

    Beeching Axe Mark II?

Could this be the start of Beeching Axe Part 2? There was a report in the local news here in the southwest that local branch lines may only stop at the final station, and omission of some of the intermediate stops on some lines. Its all a part fo the Great Western Franchise tendering. It rightly...

    Devon and Cornwall Railways?!?

"Devon and Cornwall Railways" is listed as being a open-access rail company 'In Development". On further research it is owned by British American Railway Services, which own the Dartmoor Railway. Is this actually a new rail company proposing new open access services in Devon and Cornwall. Or is...
