Yup - two still here in Inverness

Am reading "Emil and the Detectives" (from the 1940's??) to my boys at the moment - sounds just like the "crime" - fell asleep for a few mins and pinned envelope inside pocked containing (Ok - only 8 pounds) disappeared from his person. (No spoilers please - we have a few chapters to go....)

Failed to see what was on the other end but thought the overhead wires inspection carriage behind the loco was a little premature for the Far North lines. Perhaps just as far as Dingwall please.

I am intrigued as to where didn't have a decent (and similar to M-F service on Saturdays. Yes Sunday services (like now) were much diminished but having spend most Saturdays over quite a few years between the late 70s and early 90s travelling on extensive services across the network - I suspect...

Was Invited into the cab of a very new 59001 at Westbury and driven down the siding - couldn't believe my luck!

It would be interesting to see where this statement is backed up with any real numbers. My and the many other daily commuters into Inverness on the Far north and Kyle lines would likely disagree - based upon first hand daily experience.

And this morning - a whole 3 of us in my nicely refurbished (but alas no longer 1st class) 158 carriage. Never mind a table and 4 to myself - I could have chosen from 7 tables.....!! Credit too to the Network Rail guys who ALWAYS have the platforms, paths and approaches salted and cleared...
