121034 (The Green One) - I rode it on this mornings diagram.
121020 (The Blue One) - was hooked up to Lesley the shunter and was sat next to Aylesbury LMD.
That's very surprising
I was told that for the last handful of Trainee Train Managers positions they had 280 applicants, obviously not picking the right ones that could progress to Mainline then ... what about the catering staff I wonder?
The Thameslink advert states "Please ONLY APPLY if you live within 60 minutes travel time of Ashford Depot or application will not be considered"
The Great Northern advert states "This translates to candidates being able to reach the depot within 45 minutes total travel time."
Arguably I...
They will ask you questions about what training they might need to provide you with if successful, e.g. traction conversion and route learning if you don't already sign over their routes...
Nothing to worry about.
I accept it completely. It needs a fundamental reform though.
I also see it as a massive business opportunity. Setting up a HR company that specialises in just railway recruitment so TOC's could outsource.
Everyone else in here is rather lucky ... I seem to be quite a slow mover ...

To the contrary of the above ... EMT are advertising internally for Trainee Mainline Drivers.

In the advert it states
"The ideal applicant will be motivated and responsible and be able to demonstrate: Currently working as...
I'd be very surprised if they recruit for trainee drivers again within the next 6 months.
I still wonder whatever happened to all those who were going for depot driving in Banbury this time last year...
It would appear Three Bridges ROC is going to have quite a lot of new faces in it over the next 6 months.

As already mentioned above, both Class 121's will be coming out of passenger service at the May timetable change.
They will be sold I believe.
There is certainly an interest in the 230's to relieve short term capacity issues ... but nothing confirmed as of yet.
A couple of things to take into consideration...
- Most of the vacancies I believe are for Aylesbury Depot.
- With the reduction in catering staff at Moor Street, any vacancies up there would naturally be absorbed by internal staff.
- The previous recruitment drive in 2014 showed an 8:2 split...
The vacancy has now closed.
Arguably though, by restricting to 45 minutes from the depots, you would be missing out on some really good talented individuals.
If football teams restricted their managers to live within 45 minutes of the stadium at the application stage can you imagine what...
I've put an application in :)
I'm well outside the 45 min limit, but can relocate immediately, which by judging from "We have spaces on our courses starting in Spring/Summer 2017" means they need people as soon as possible...
Wait and see I guess!
