Hull Trains are having a second day of a train shortage according to local television and radio again this morning.
I wonder how many days this will last?
The level crossing gates at Brigg, was an electric motor driving an hydraulic pump / motor arrangment under the signal box, whilst upstairs in the box was a short lever arrangemnet which contriolled the flow of oil to the hydraulic gate motor so that you could vary the speed of the gates going...
A very interesting fact about barriers at stations I would like answering is who pays for them to be installed ? the TOC or Network Rail as its there station and only leased to the TOC or is it the government paying for them indirectly?
With all the so called extra revenue coming in from...
Sorry can,t see that happening at all, Network Rail don,t want people trackside at all, even there own staff unless they have to be there.
Station adoption scheme members won,t be PTS trained and the TOC won,t want the additional cost of maintaining another building etc.
Think it will be a...
The crossing been trialed is at Filey , between Bridlington And Seamer , its not a busy line and no trains on a sunday and its Cinderella railway too up there.
( That is the railway closes overnight) .
I think you will find its full steam ahead now the Olympics is finished to get rid of...
track anchors of the style in the picture have now been fitted at Selby Station at the North end ( east end ) of the Hull side platform if any wants to see them in the north area.
Also one at Howden is a Listed Building on the line from Hull to Leeds, its a typical example of an NER railway signal box. Its now a few years since it was taken out of use.
The last place that I knew that there was any propane gas heaters was on a set of switches in Ferrybridge Power Station and they no longer worked, as the Network Rail S & T staff maintained the point motor and interlocking etc for the signalling.& since the track and points was on the power...
Is it possible to make use of this supply for engineering work on the units?
This may mean modifications may be required on the system but that could be factored in.
I guess your thinking of using the 110v supply for powering Kango Hammers etc instead of using portable generators on site...
This week on a lunchtime was a repeat of a series about Eddy Stobart trucks etc on Channel 5. It was on friday evenings I think, it followed the drivers etc of Stobarts doing there deliveries etc. It also showed you Stobarts Trains transporting Tesco,s containers, Southend Airport and station...
Looking the internet last night I found G4S require security staff for the Olympics in various location around the country a well paid job looking after the security of various venues etc. all for the pricely sum of £8-50 per hour, bet you could get the same if not more frying chips ( sorry...
Why has there not been anyone calling for Lord Coe to go over the mess up over Olympics security, as wasn,t it his LOCOG organization who let the contract for security ?
Just look at there web site and see all the board, I wonder what they are all receiving out of this or are they all doing...
Who was responsible for letting the contract to G4S for security at the Olympics then?
The Olympic Delivery company or H.M Government
Who is footing the bill ?
If you read my message, you will see that I did put IF it went to Leeds.
Problem on here is some people just don,t read what people have put in there message and jump to answer with out reading everything.
Sorrry if it upsets anyone reading this.
If the Royal Train does go to Leeds one thing I can hazard a guess at is that it will use a platform that has direct acess to the outside of the station, as I don,t think the Queen and Phil will be using the escaltor,s or lift,s to leave the station. So that will narrow it down to a platform or...
I think that you will find that when they did the West Coast Line upgrade, that Virgins contract was suspended and they was paid by Network rail to run the service during the Line,s upgrade instead of them having to pay to use the line.
Someone on here will give us the full answer to this and...
When I have traveled on rail replacement services, I think you will find most people have valid tickets, but if there is no booking office etc at departure station how can you buy a ticket and if there is a machine on the platform its not much use when the coach picks up sometimes 100m + away...
One passed through Goole yesterday afternoon heading south, I guess that it was heading for Mtc @ Old Oak Common, its a long way to go and get your major problems fixed.
Would you take your car from Hull all that way to get it fixed?
Another one of the problems of Privatization of the...
There is one called AIS Ships that must be similar to the aircraft one, which shows up where the ships are and where they are going etc. This too is very interesting as it differentiate between the type of ships etc by colour and will also show speed and destination and route.
These to work off...
