The annual "Boxing Day Trains" row.

So by saying that, are you advocating that cinemas and theatres be closed on these days too, as they are as 'entertainment' as much as sporting events are?

    Gigs / live music discussion

The Wildhearts killed Glasgow on Wednesday night. Lots missed it to go and see Korn/ Limp Bizkit at the Hydro instead (and had a worse night) They tore up Newcastle last too by all accounts and are set to do the same in Wolverhampton tonight. I'll see if they've still got the stamina tomorrow...

    Clothing

Same here with additional purchases from thew band's website. Work clothes (shirt/ tie and trousers) come from Matalan, cheap and long lasting. Always wear Wrangler Texas jeans, difficult to get hold of but www.jeanstore.co.uk are my goto supplier

    Being friends with work colleagues

Its not up to your line manager to inform you of these developments. They cannot be expected to put things on a plate for you. You left your mother's breast at least a couple of decades ago now. Its simply not just a case of whether she likes you or not. One of the essential skills that almost...

    Gigs / live music discussion

Volbeat were immense last night, couldn't get into Alter Bridge, had to leave half an hour before the end to make sure I made the last train home, that wasn't such a bad thing for me tbh

Poundland to close up to 80 stores

Somerfield was bought out by The Co-Op, so any Kwik Saves that survived to be rebranded Somerfield, will now be a Co-Op, unless of course there was already a Co-Op nearby and they'll have suffered the same fate as these Poundland branches

Furious commuter waits three hours for train from New Street to Bournville

He's an idiot that doesn't deserve any publicity. Stuff like this goes on every day and a majority of people are fully capable of making logical decisions that won't cost time or extra money. Another example of idiocy to make a point or become a celebrity

    When your 16-25 railcard expires...

I thought you were going to ask what you do when it expires, I was going to say, you pay full fare like everyone else ;)

    Gigs / live music discussion

Are you on the All Things Ginger Wildheart Facebook page? If so, you'll probably know that the pre gig meet will most likely be in The Assembly House again. I'll be the one in the Newcastle United shirt

    Gigs / live music discussion

December 1st: The Hydro, Glasgow, Alter Bridge, Volbeat and Gojira (going mainly for Volbeat as they aren't doing a headline UK tour this year) December 14th: O2 ABC Glasgow, The Wildhearts (my favourite band, 31st time seeing them) supported by Dirt Box Disco and The Main Grains December...

EU Referendum: The result and aftermath...

You put it out there in public, going off topic in public, demanding a reply in private is a bit two faced, isn't it?

    Being friends with work colleagues

Having now read the whole thread, I don't wish to sound offensive or to offend you but: Do you think you may have been rejected from the job because you A, didn't come across as a team player, B, didn't interact with your work colleagues, C, may I suggest gave off an impression when you heard...

    Reversing formation for Damage

I was on the 16:30 Edinburgh to Kings Cross today. We struck something just north of Morpeth and the nearside windscreen was damaged (it was a Class 93/DVT unit). We arrived into Newcastle about 7 minutes late. The train was then reversed and it continued south via the High Level bridge...

Where are the new jobs coming from?

Economic growth is not entirely dependent on technological innovation.

Huntingdon - Peterborough Lines Blocked (02/10)

I don't think anyone has picked up on the dark humour there (or they did but just couldn't be bothered to comment) --- old post above --- --- new post below --- We were affected by this yesterday morning. Firstly, the train we were supposed to leave Waverley at 9am developed a fault and we had...

Where are the new jobs coming from?

But you have no evidence that all the economy will do is grow, that's the argument you're putting forward.

Where are the new jobs coming from?

Really? I registered for Internet Banking when I opened my HSBC account 15 years ago, I've never had a problem with it, never had reason to make complaints or ask about any 'suspicious' transaction (as I've never had any)

    Whimsical names of pop/rock bands

There's a great band always play The Brudenell called Eureka Machines, fronted by Sisters Of Mercy guitarist Chris Catalyst (he's currently playing guitar for Ugly Kid Joe on their UK tour too), if you get to The Brudenell regularly, give them a go!

Where are the new jobs coming from?

Doesn't really need any evidence. Take your bank account for example. A bank isn't going to employ somebody (with the required qualifications, experience and knowledge of the banking system) to sit at a desk somewhere 'just in case' their computer goes down and they can't access their accounts...
