iPhone Camera Noises

I just find it annoying that when you take a picture on an iPhone that annoying camera shutter noise goes off. It doesn't even sound like a camera! Luckily, I don't have an iPhone but my parents do. I've tried the ways on the internet to turn I off, but none of them seem to work! Is anybody else experiencing the same issues?

I bet Nikon put a lot of effort into trying to silence the shutters in their film cameras.

I've always had the shutter noise silenced on my iPhone. I don't remember how I did it but surely it's as simple as something like switching the mute toggle?

Putting your phone on silent will turn off the shutter noises. Or always has for me anyway.

If it's an iPod Touch you can't disable the noise.

If you turn the sounds volume all the way down in settings on an iPhone or an iPod touch, then it should stop the camera noises. Of course, the iPhone may have a slide switch as mentioned above which should also mute the noise.

On many phones it can't, I believe, be disabled so people can't take covert photographs. But as others have stated I think on an iPhone it's just a case of turning the ringer off.

I can stop it completely on my Samsung s6 by silencing the phone

..that'll be the difference between an android, and an iPhone handset..

More importantly, how do you stop parents taking pictures on their handsets?

Galaxy Note 4 here too, putting the phone on silent stops the shutter noise

On my Moto G4 and Moto G there is an option in the camera settings to turn the shutter sound off
