True, but in both GCSE and A Level collisions are assumed to be either perfectly elastic or perfectly inelastic... I'm not sure your A Level knowledge would get you terribly far in designing a crash-worthy train.

From my observations as a passenger, CA3/4 tends to be held at red until the down train has left Box Hill and Westhumble, which means that CA186 (at the south end of BXW rarely shows anything other than a single yellow or a red. In roughly twenty years, I've only seen CA186 with a green aspect...

How were the 139s delivered originally? By road and then craned in? Did they come by rail from the main line?

How would journey times compare for the two routes? - Basingstoke to Manchester via Birmingham - Basingstoke to Manchester via Milton Keynes 3.5 - 4 hours for each routing? Doesn't seem to be much in it?
