Interestingly some depots where electric trains are stabled overnight also leave the trains "running" as it were: in other words the lights, air-con/heating and systems all on, all night. So no noise from engines but rather wasteful of energy all the same.
I believe Central Rivers depot (near...
If referring to me, other than the fact I am not a usual commentator, I also specifically said that exaggerating and claiming to be there all night, when he quite clearly wasn't, means that a) he couldn't honestly make that claim and b) if not there all night, how can someone allege something to...
If you want a sensible answer then it's best not to exaggerate in the first place. If you left at 3 a.m then you weren't at Nottingham ALL NIGHT, but in addition if the poker tournament finished very late and you therefore missed the 00.45 coach, at the most you were stood at the coach station...
Well, this thread may be as good a place as any to ask this question:
If someone owns a rendered non-cavity wall house (of which there are many) and the render needs replacing, current regs state that if 50% or more of any wall needs re-rendering, the whole wall's thermal insulation has to meet...
Dodgy road to go down (pardon the pun) there. Taken to its logical conclusion it would prevent the use of rail replacement bus services and even the use of taxis to convey passengers potentially, as the risk of them dying in a road accident is obviously far greater than on the train.
The 11.33 Holyhead - Cardiff today is 2x153 as well.
On the plus side, the run from Shrewsbury to Hereford non-stop might even give the brakes time to fully release...
"Flexibility" is not because of drivers being awkward, far from it.
It's because of the safety implications of allowing a driver who is, let's say, trained on the class 158, instead to drive a class 150 on the same route, with no training on a class 150.
Reaction to braking is completely...
Which is marvellous for governments who wish to impose their will on the people.
It strikes me as ironic that in recent times many have been proud to have "freed themselves from the shackles of Christianity (or religion)" claiming to be enlightened and not just believe what they are told: and...
To make it worse, it looks as if the change of trains would have to include a platform change via footbridge/lift between potentially Platform 4 and Platform 3 - as the 2132 to Llandudno will be coming from Blaenau Ffestiniog, and P1 is scheduled to be occupied by an east bound train at the same...
Have seen it happen a handful of times in past years where a train has either come to a stand before the platform, and not moved until people were behind the yellow line, or the train has not moved away from the platform while people were between the train and yellow line. In the latter case it...
If only there were announcements telling people to "mind the doors" or "stand clear, doors closing", plus some kind of alarm sound when the doors are closing.
Oh, wait.
Nothing as such: but the design of the Class 58 (and why their nickname is "egg-timer") is such that one can only access either cab from an external side facing door at each end of the narrower part: in other words there is no walking through the engine compartment like there would be on most...
Would you like any salt and vinegar with those chips on your shoulder?
Key Workers included this definition:
"Transport Workers. This includes those who will keep the air, water, road and rail passenger and freight transport modes operating during the Covid-19 response, including those working...
Nice.
I suppose it wouldn't occur to you that many avoided furlough because they were still actually going to work. You know, railway staff being key workers and all that.
