    Transpennine Industrial Relations

.15 and 15 are completely different and it's sole purpose being written like that is to stir up trouble between the grades and you've already got a chip on your shoulder about drivers, so it's great bait for people like you. I'm sure you'd be annoyed if you thought you were getting a 15%...

    Transpennine Industrial Relations

Nope, it was standard rate, followed by another offer of time and 15, so 1.15,l and the RMT said drivers were offered "15%" but let's not let facts get in the way of a good rant ey.

    Lumo driving standard

Fyi, I'm sure you'll know that in some instances where they've been placed incorrectly, no matter how much brake you use, even using emergency, you still can't get down to the speed shown.

    Lumo driving standard

What about where speed restrictions aren't correctly placed? E.g. sufficient distance hasn't been allowed for slowing down. Is a harsh, nearly full service brake application suitable, or would you rather risk going over the ESR at a higher speed?

    Transpennine Industrial Relations

No they didn't. They offered 1.15%. The RMT were in too much of a rush to get that 15% figure out, they forgot to actually check it.

The Driver role - your thoughts and feelings..

Personally, I find I get on better with some people than others. Would I want to go out for a drink with all of them? No. Some of them? Yeah. I do get on well with a select few, but generally most people are sound. There's the odd Muppet, but you get them anywhere. It can be a lonely role...

    Professional development for drivers

Sounds to me like he's looking at working ad-hoc for a freight operator, which may be breaking his employment terms and conditions if that's the case. There will probably be very few drivers who have up-to-date pway certification and I really can't see why they'd want this? Instructor and...

    TPE - Trainee Driver - Sheffield (04/02/22)

I think they're saying people can't start on that date, so it's messing potential training courses up.

    TPE - Trainee Driver - Sheffield (04/02/22)

Just something to bear in mind for the upcoming training, if you got offered the job. There's some intensive training to do, which will include homework, which you can't do at a later date.

Contact TPE recruitment, say you've passed the assessments and ask if you've met the standard?

    Change of career to freight

It's not. Most freight operators have either withdrawn access to new starters or are removing it as an option (i.e. trying to price existing staff out of it). Depending on location you're looking at and happy to be proven wrong, I think the only FOC left that will take new people transferring...

Newer drivers may go into a specific link, which has a smaller route card, some operators do do this

    MOBILE OPERATIVE DB

Most cases I've been aware of are that external applicants have been chosen over internal applicants. Yes you'd still need to do the entrance tests for driving.

    MOBILE OPERATIVE DB

From experience, this is generally not the case.

    MOBILE OPERATIVE DB

Mobile Operative is Groundstaff in DB terms. It's prepping trains, instructing drivers where wagons are being moved to etc. Depending on location, it can be a lot of walking, but a fairly easy job. As NorthernTech says, salary about £30k. However, being a Mobile Operative isn't a sure fire...
