Hi all. I'm need to travel from Birmingham International to Euston on Sunday. Ideally I want a flexible ticket. When I use the Virgin website and search for a single ticket BHI-EUS with a Y-P card the only flexible Off-Peak single ticket offered is £28.40.
If instead I search for a return...
My book of 5 tickets has just arrived in the post today. They are the scratch and laminate type that someone suggested they would be, and you have to write the stations on them yourself, so they don't all need to be for the same journey. Must say I'm quite pleased!
Will be interesting to see...
Hello all. I've asked the firstcc twitter feed but strangely it doesn't seem to be active today, so I'm hoping you guys can help with this query. I just need to know, am I allowed to make a break of journey at Potters Bar on a Royston to London Terminals Super off peak single for travel today...
Hi. A bit of a complicated one here I hope one of you experts can help with. The details are as follows:
Royston to Bath Spa
Out 15th October (departing around 8 am)
Return 16th October (departing as late as possible)
2 Adults
1x 16-25 Railcard
1x Network Railcard
The best I have...
The actual journey provider will most likely be First Capital Connect actually, and I expect the sharing of revenue on Cambridge to London (any route) tickets gives most of it to FCC.
Well I didn't have chance to use the lounge this time (obviously!) though when I used it in the past I did think it was a bit grim. The first class catering crew I have experienced so far have always seemed very polite and friendly, the wifi has always worked without any problem, and as I'm only...
I was going by the time on the clocks in the station, not my own time, and could swear it was 3, but anyway... 2 minutes or 3, I still think passengers should be given all information and be allowed to make their own choices.
Thanks for clarifying the Advance ticket situation AlterEgo. I'll...
So despite having missed my previous connection. My original ticket was still valid for the final leg from BHI-MGN? On any train today? In that case I do still think the ticket office attempted to mis-sell by offering a new fare all the way to MGN when I only needed a new ticket to cover me to BHI.
Yorkie, my ticket was the £21.10 one that you described.
So to clarify then, an Advance ticket is only valid for exactly the advertised journey? Even the stages where reservations don't exist? If so then I honestly didn't know this. Live and learn.
I won't be complaining as my main concerns...
Where did the £10.40 reduction off the £28.40 come from? Is this just a random number they chose? I agree with most of your points, I know I didn't leave enough time, and I was pleased with the end result from the train manager. I still think people should be allowed to use their own brains in...
Hi all. Long one here so scroll to paragraph 4 if you want to skip my rant. I'm looking for a bit of advice (and a chance to let off steam!) about a couple of issues I had during a journey I made today. I had a 1st Advance Single from Royston (Herts) to Marston Green. The itinerary for this...
Hi all. Don't think there's a thread on this already. It's being reported here that government has discussed today plans to increase infrastructure spending by £5bn and that rail will be included. What real implications (if any) do we think this will actually have for the rail industry? Is £5bn...
As has been said, in some cases it must be to distinguish from bus travel. In the case of St Neots and Cambridge, both of these places are served by the X5 bus which is operated by Stagecoach and runs from Oxford to Cambridge.
I once had to make a journey from Birmingham to Cambridge on a day...
That's great thanks Sonic. Decided to go for the second option as it's faster and only 85p more. You found me an overall cheaper price than advances and with full flexibility, awesome!
Hello all. Can anyone help me find cheap tickets for the following journey:
Marston Green (MGN) to Carmarthen (CMN)
Going Saturday 3rd Sepember (around 10am)
Coming back Wednesday 7th September (around 11 am)
1 adult
No railcards
One special requirement: AVOID the Severn Tunnel...
Initially this seems like a ridiculous and pointless railcard. The only scenario I can think of where this might change people's behaviour is in the following situation:
A person normally gets the first off-peak train of the day, and their friend normally gets the train before that. The friend...
