I would imagine it's something to do with people travelling from London to Sandown Park racecourse and not knowing that Oyster isn't valid that far.

I was on a Basingstoke stopper from Waterloo today in first class (with my gold card supplement). Ticket check started at Surbiton (with announcement). The only other people in first class were a family group of 3. When approaching Weybridge the conductor arrived to check tickets...

@Furlong As long as I can remember the route from Weybridge to London via Virginia Water has been more expensive than via Surbiton. It's not one I would generally take as it's well over an hour compared to 30-35 mins on the surbiton route.

So the thinking is that via Woking isn't a permitted route - it's a fare anomaly. In that case I ought to apologise for publicising it! :oops:

I wonder if someone can help me with this routeing query. How is it that National Rail website shows services from Weybridge to London Waterloo involving a change at Woking - for the same price as the direct service (£7.80)? An example is if you search for services on a weekday morning at...

I bought a Ryde Gold Card from a SWT station in Surrey in May and received my free weekend tickets a few weeks later.

You could do it for free if you're prepared to use the limited SWT direct service from Woking to Bath and your SWT free weekend tickets!

Mine was from SWT. I was sold the ticket & supplement as two separate transactions. Printing 'OUT' will only cause confusion so it would be much better if this was blank surely.

Sorry ... I forgot to say ... I did buy a DAY RETURN so why did I only get one supplement for 'OUT'
