    London Bridge shortlisted for award

If people find London Bridge "confusing" then I loose hope for humanity... Yes, it has some issues which I already mentioned (like insufficient toilet provision, lack of some warm place to wait etc.) but "being confusing" is definitely not an issue here. The layout is as dumb-proof as one can...

    London Bridge shortlisted for award

In terms of pure interchange mechanism the new station is a vast improvement. All the platforms are accessible from single spacious concourse. How can it be complicated? It is much, much better than the old mess. The station is easier to enter from most of the directions. Of course there are...

    Booking fee for FIP travel

I kind of expected that. Someone mentioned that you can make reservation in the ticket machine at the station. Is that true?

    Booking fee for FIP travel

I plan to catch TGV from Paris Montparnasse to Henday on the Spanish border. Do I need to book a seat or can I just board the train with my coupon filled? Can one book seat online in advance for use with the coupons?

Crossrail opening delayed (opening date not yet known)

For me the most worrying bit is this one:

Brixton is perfect station for free riders into London. Close to central London by bus (or tube) but no barriers. You can come all the way from zone 5 or 6 and only pay single bus or tube fare. Madness. Fare evasion is rife on this line, only Orpington and Bromley South have gates. Brixton is...

    GWR Class 800

I had finally chance to try the IETs. I went to Totnes and back on Eastern Sunday, both way 2x5 coach class 802s (didn't check the unit numbers, I'm not that geeky yet ;) ) So, let's get the issue of seats out of the way. Personally I didn't find them particularly hard but I had issue with the...

    MML Electrification: progress updates

Good question. Yet, separate piles, masts and cantilevers for each track are widespread and preferred system around the world. Maybe because such masts and cantilevers don't have to be so massive and two separate structures offer better resilience if there is mechanical fault on one of the lines?

SouthEastern franchise direct award through to 1 April 2020 (& franchise competition terminated)

Actually this is my main concern. Having a GTR pass on top of the SE staff card is handy in south London (and Sussex) ;)

SouthEastern franchise direct award through to 1 April 2020 (& franchise competition terminated)

It's not only the drivers, hiring is minimal and agency staff use increased. Station maintenance also suffers. Nothing gets done, everyone is playing waiting game. Only things which have to get fixed do get fixed (and you actually have to fight for it) otherwise everything deteriorates. I...

What is the extent of modification of the existing tracks? Are they adding segregated tracks just for the Overground?
