I believe we were load 9, there were seats available in my coach but the rest of the train looked pretty full. I paid on the day as did another chap in my coach sat opposide table to mine. How was your trip? I wanted the Deltic trip myself but it was fully booked so took the other option...
I was on this tour and I must say...it was a brilliant day out :) The locos worked superbly, ran on time with no hitches and the on-board staff are a credit to Spitfire. No question was left unanswered and indeed one member of train crew ( I didnt get his name unfortunately but hopefully he...

whilst I agree that the 45-46 look more powerful now....back then I was 8yrs old and had probably only been on a train as far as Middlesborough, perhaps Redcar :D To see that Loco haul in our "Holiday train" was a huge surprise because I had only seen locos hauling coal in the local area :) I...
Thank you everyone for the replies :) I`m now thinking myself that it was a class 40 as it was the distinctive front end that had me thinking it was a Deltic (although i do appreciate that the 37, 45 etc were very similar). I just remember thinking it was a beast :D
Hi everybody, when I was much younger ( Im thinking I was around 7-8 ) I remember going on a family holiday to Scarborough. We boarded the train at Hartlepool and I have a memory of a huge loud loco hauling the train. I always thought it was a Deltic but on giving it more thought, I now believe...

Thanks everyone for your replies :) Looks like the splits at Derby and Sheffield it is then. I hoped that there would be splits but to get £17 OFF the return fare has really surprised me....That`s 1/3 off or equivalent to a railcard discount that i dont qualify for.
Many many thanks :)
