Is there? I did wonder why they never added a Platform 0 to the west of Platform 1 to give an extra bay for a 3 or 4-car unit. There was enough room.
Below is a couple of images of the area next to P1 before the two sidings were removed and P1 shortened to accomodate the staff building, built...
To me, the photo clearly shows "Exit" and "To Low Level Station". Not one and the same thing.
I think those stairs both took you down towards the Low Level station AND lead you to the exit onto Hope Street/Argyle Street.
Did the Eastern end not original lead to an exit on Union Street, where the current building that has the Cathouse nightclub in? I'm sure I read that before somewhere.
Largs post-1995 train crash.
Drumgelloch (1989-2010) - talk about bleak.
Springburn - I think it wasn't until the very late-80s that they started running terminating EMUs to the station after 7pm at night cos the area's as rough as a badgers bahookie.
Paisley Canal (1990) - they didn't even...

Largs only lost one in the 1980s. Platform 1 was taken out of use in the 1970s. The two middle roads in each bay were removed in the 80s, along with P2.
Cracking picture.
I made a couple of models of these buffers for Trainz. Were quite popular.

This never seems to be a question when new infrastructure projects are required for the south-east.
Indeed, when these projects invariably overrun to the tune of £BNs, they always seem to be able to find the money from somewhere for it....
That's Platform 9. I'm sure it was that very same set of buffers that were tested many years ago, and one of the 'pistons' didn't come back out again. This was before they had that extra section on the front for modern DMUs and EMUs. They fenced off the area in case it shot out suddenly out and...
Great pictures.
I'm still not sure why they don't just double-track all the way to EK, add a second platform and install a double pair of crossovers just before the station. Another example of penny wise, pound foolish?
