To me, the photo clearly shows "Exit" and "To Low Level Station". Not one and the same thing. I think those stairs both took you down towards the Low Level station AND lead you to the exit onto Hope Street/Argyle Street.

Largs once had 4 platforms in the two bays, with an escape road in the middle of each bay giving 6 tracks. Plus it had a glazed roof extending part the way along the platforms. Now it's one bay with no overall roof and a small booking office building, partly thanks to 318254 deciding it wanted...

Largs only lost one in the 1980s. Platform 1 was taken out of use in the 1970s. The two middle roads in each bay were removed in the 80s, along with P2.
