I'm no engineer and I'm just thinking out loud here, but isn't it possible that connecting several MUs will diminish performance somewhat because each unit's performance is a little different and the control system cannot fully compensate for that?
It may be true that having five units won't give you five times the traction. But even if it is, you can't simulate the effect simply by changing the number of cars in the train.dat; you'd have to modify the values in the #ACCELERATION section (and possibly some others; see...
@adamp: to use the dash key for another horn sound, add a new line Music = filename.wav in the in the [Horn] section of the sound.cfg file, where filename.wav is obviously changed to whatever the actual name of your file is. Keep in mind that the sound will be played continuously until the...
@Skydo: I don't think so. It would be a worthy project, no doubt about that, but I rather think it's too big, given the amount of time I can spare for development. I'm quite content fiddling with the Sandymill (and I still have a to-do list as long as my arm).
@Rich: Well, Michelle's demo route has it. As for UK material, NWM sports flashing yellow signal aspects, and the 37/4 and other trains have exteriors with a flashing taillight. It's all the same thing under the hood (sorry, bonnet) and easy to do in openBVE.
Yeah, the installation is a bit of a pain, but I'm reluctant to do things differently as long as I'm not receiving any replies from Robert Glass and his website is still up. In any case, I'm glad you like it.
Incidentally, I had some time last weekend and started work on the next release ...
It seems I'm late to the party, but I was away from my computer for much of August ...
My compliments to both Dans - this is terrific work. I only wish my old computer could run this route and train at higher frame rates.
Like other openBVE users, I find the default view from the cab...
The developer, Anthony Bowden, has stated that the route will be available for BVE 2 and BVE 4 as well, but all versions are still in development. The route's ancestor, so to speak, Watford Junction to Milton Keynes for BVE 2, is available but rather outdated by today's standards. See...
Last time I checked, the TW811 was available at http://bvesim.de . The site seems to be offline at the moment; I'm not sure whether this is a temporary problem or the site was abandoned.
As for increasing the train's speed, I suppose you'd have to edit the #ACCELERATION section in the train's...
I do recommend that you give it another try, Rich. A lot of trains have already been adapted for openBVE, including every default train in my version of the Sandymill. If there's another train you like that hasn't been released in an openBVE version yet: the specific cab problem that you mention...
Thanks very much for the information, guys.
I notice nobody has commented directly on the block signals before Invermay, but perhaps they were included in the general assessment of the approach's being realistic. Right now, they are working as though there was a permanent red signal...
The development of Sandymill is far from over, and I'll get to work on it again when I get the chance. I might be somewhat less faithful to the original routes than I have been so far, and thus I need advice from people who know real-life UK railways better than I do.
PSR warnings boards: I...
Well, as the subject line says, but here's more information. The routes are fictional and set in Scotland, 1986-1993. The original Sandymill to Invermay route for BVE 2 was developed mainly by Robert Glass and was electrified by Anthony Bowden; the original Sandymill to Ashfield route files were...
Ah, I see. Sorry, Jordy.
Yes, a number of files are missing. I think most issues can be fixed by copying over the subfolder 'bve4' from the openBVE version of this train; you may also need some files from the BVE 4 57/3 at BVE Routes&Trains (I don't have the opportunity right now to work it...
Um, no. You do need to download the sounds separately, but they are available on the same page as the rest of the train: http://sites.google.com/a/bve4trains.com/bve-4-trains/Home/downloads-bve4
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
