End in sight for the ASLEF dispute: Offer now made

    You’ve certainly misread the date

Policy Exchange propose to mostly remove route learning

There needs to be a bit more flexibility in this regard. Cancelling a service due to a fallen tree on the line just because (hypothetical example) a driver doesn’t sign the 500 metres of track between Wakefield Westgate and Kirkgate is plain daft.

Unclaimed bag unloaded, person arrives too late

Just don’t get involved. It’s not your case so don’t worry about it. Have you seen those scams on aircraft where people are asked to put items in the aircraft overhead storage compartments which contain illegal or banned items?

Toiletless trains blamed for forced door openings

It’s not clear from his post whether he thinks they should be prosecuted or whether he was just enquiring whether any had.

Scotrail omitting other operators' services from timetables

I bet you still use paper boarding passes?

Near miss at Euxton Junction (14/03/24)

Scary how incompetent some of these track workers are.

How are the Chinese getting hold of BR1B keys.

Thanks for the link, have just ordered two

ECML Durham wires down 25th May

Who would tell the signalmen? The drivers or their company?

    Birmingham (any) validity

Thanks. Interestingly, the guard thought it probably would be valid but he didn’t really know.

    Birmingham (any) validity

Is a Peterborough to Birmingham (any) day return valid to Birmingham International? Thanks.

    RMT strike referendum passed

Does this mean the end of strikes for the time being and I can rely on the trains running to get me to the airport for my trip in January?

    Traksy Website

Seems to be the same with traksy - 2K10 currently sat in Spalding station is apparently the 09:17 Halifax to Hull service??

    Traksy Website

Slightly off-topic, but why does Open Train Times only show journey information for some head codes and not all? And even the ones it does show are often wrong.

Trivia: Longest lever "throw" (distance between box and signal)

Doesn't "throw" in this example mean the distance the lever needs to be moved from one setting to the other, not the length of the cable joining the signal/lever?

    Spalding bypass

After getting no replies back in January, I'll ask again: Just wondered whether any line closures have been scheduled for the installation of the new bridge at Pinchbeck as part of the Spalding bypass construction?

Minimum Service Levels Bill receives Royal Assent

I didn't say the membership numbers were declining, I said their relevance was lessening.

Minimum Service Levels Bill receives Royal Assent

The public are losing sympathy with the rail unions, and teachers for that matter. I've worked in the NHS for over 30 years and have never taken industrial action, although the public are generally still behind us if we choose to.

Minimum Service Levels Bill receives Royal Assent

It's taking time, but as the older staff retire the railway unions are (thankfully) gradually becoming less relevant. Tick, tock.
