There needs to be a bit more flexibility in this regard. Cancelling a service due to a fallen tree on the line just because (hypothetical example) a driver doesn’t sign the 500 metres of track between Wakefield Westgate and Kirkgate is plain daft.
Just don’t get involved. It’s not your case so don’t worry about it. Have you seen those scams on aircraft where people are asked to put items in the aircraft overhead storage compartments which contain illegal or banned items?
Slightly off-topic, but why does Open Train Times only show journey information for some head codes and not all? And even the ones it does show are often wrong.
Doesn't "throw" in this example mean the distance the lever needs to be moved from one setting to the other, not the length of the cable joining the signal/lever?

The public are losing sympathy with the rail unions, and teachers for that matter. I've worked in the NHS for over 30 years and have never taken industrial action, although the public are generally still behind us if we choose to.
