I like the theory that Derren Brown describes in his book.
Some people put their bag on the seat next to them because they want both seats to themselves, but on a crowded train people will usually have no hesitation in asking you/telling you to move it so they can have the seat.
If you...
Hi everyone,
I noticed that there have been videos posted of a tour for GBRF staff that went from Edinburgh to Retford and back last week.
The question is....why?
I don't mean to denigrate my home town but of all the places to go to, why here?
Did the tour just turn around straight...
When I was younger, me and 2 or 3 other lads had gone to Worksop for the day. We then decided to get the train to Shireoaks so that we could see the trains that were in the depot as we went past, and noted from the timetable that there was a train that returned back to Worksop more or less...
People who can't be bothered to use their car indicators. I even saw someone the other day on a driving lesson not bother on a right turn, and looked at the instructor expecting her to mouth something to the leaner, but her mouth remained shut!

My friends used to run a pub where an unseen entity pushed the landlord off a barrel he was sitting on in the cellar.
The landlady saw an old man with his head in his hands on the bar and walked...
I had a similar experience to the OP. A car pulled into my work and opened the boot for us to put some sand bags in.
I saw a blonde coloured head moving about in the back seat and thought it was either an Afghan Hound or a Retriever, so when I had put my bag in the boot I held my hand out...
Hi all,
I'm sure I read in Rail that there was meant to be a double-headed 50 tour on the ECML, but the magazine and the internet were at odds with one saying it was last Saturday and the other saying it is tomorrow.
Can anyone enlighten me, or should I start cutting down on the beer?
Thankyou for your reply.
It might well have been the case. I just thought it strange as usually, if an "up" train needs to be sidelined to let something past, they usually just pull it into Platform 1. Doing it the other way means crossing the down line twice, once to use the Platform 2 loop...
Hi everyone,
Driving just North of Retford station yesterday I noticed this stock, headed by 67005, on the down loop that is accessed via Platform 2, but on an 'up' working.
This is a most unusual position for a train to be in IME. Does anyone know what was going on, or where the stock...
