A casual look does make you think it’s flakes of paint or the like but when you look a bit more closely it is obviously holes, once I looked properly I was thinking how on earth I could have thought it was holes in the first place tbh.
I mean shadows would be different and you wouldn’t be able...
I thought I gave what was a common sense answer, paths are unlikely to have been the issue but crew to move set may have been. Common sense would have told you that ScotRail do not have drivers that sign the route the delivery paths take, until they reach Scotland obviously Therefore they will...
Agree on the paths part, maybe they do not have a driver available to drive it? Sure it's ROG doing the transfers and they are usually able to do anything given notice but they may have no spare drivers for during the week for the requested moves, only weekend maybe?
Stromeferry is a single line, the old platform is still extant but would obviously need work if it were to be returned as a crossing point along with associated points and track etc.
If it stays as single line it would be similiar to Corrour (minus sidings) so UP and DN direction stop boards and...
They would need to route learn or be conducted past Crianlarich and portable would likely not suffice for this type of use, or at least ScotRail would need to buy 2 portable units and discussions had as to if this would work as portables are meant for trains not normally fitted that are working...
Is there more retb radios being procured for HST,s? They would need the full design required for install + the required traction and or route learning as well as maintaining that knowledge for what would be more like occasional work.
I cannot see them being deployed in the near or medium future...
Not the case, gauge clearing progressing in tandem with that for the 153’s.
Never say never of course but it was part of the franchise commitment and work is still ongoing.
I don’t know what the main problems are for gauging but I don’t think it’s the platforms. A lot of them have been redone in years past and should already be suitable for 158 doors. 153’s no doubt provide their own challenge for gauging...
The best way to access Corrour and Rannoch is either train or RRV (for those who's area it falls under). RRV's are soon being provided for response so it wont just be dependant on maintenance being able to provide the machine. These, if no other train is available would also be used to rescue...
There was a job advertised for a 'Mobile' Wheel lathe operator in Inverness recently....I initially assumed by the wording that the lathe itself was mobile but was it actually the operator who would travel to Lathes??
*Edit* I am sure it said 'operator for mobile wheel lathe'
My understanding is that the on board systems need to be configured for each location or tested at each location. Possibly GPS or the like, possibly for door opening and displays etc.
My memory of the conversation about it is very hazy though.
I've been hearing the 153's currently have a greater number of clearance issues than the 158's. Would that be down to the steps maybe? So if removed they will mostly be ok?
As stated Glen Douglas is a standard crossing loop on the WHL but there is no station. Currently the timetable doesn't have a requirement to cross passenger trains there but it could happen if additional traffic came on the scene. Traffic can be booked to cross the as Currently happens with the...
I suppose Scotland route banning 'red zone / warning working' a good few years ago does mean the likely hood of workers being sprayed by waste as the trains pass is lessened a great deal.
