on re-reading that she does seem to have featured more than the scrambled egg and mushroom ...
... but an essential part of the experience, a splendid brief encounter to share breakfast together
and some things a gentleman does not disclose, but we do live in nearby neighbourhood ...

good plan, and then you can enjoy some of the urban scenery, altho prob not time for a pint in Horseshoe Bar, Drury Street. Suggest you leave time on the return journey

but as a Hun you might know that already
just completed the Edinburgh/Newcastle leg of my journey South to London.
the surprise bonus was the attractive young lady who sat opposite with whom I enjoyed pleasant conversation for that part of the journey - she was only travelling to Newcastle so now I have chance to report.
Coffee came...
I'm pleased you have said it aint so. And as a customer of course you have valid opinion to express.
As indicated, I hope to confirm [or not] that experience midweek on the 8am South and the 6pm North.

It is sad that this forum is now an enquiry desk on behalf of EC for passenger information about what food can be expected on what train.
But that is what happens when otherwise content FC travellers become disgrunted.
I have to wait for another week to have my renewal of first hand...
having just bought a Scottish Exec ticket, and been told that I dont get credited with the 'points' until "2 months and 1 day after the outward journey" will I suppose these "loyalty rewards" will be honored?
I've been bought the Scottish Exec package for a same weekday return from Edinburgh departing 08:00 with return journey from London Kings Cross at 18:00.
Recall earlier discussion from other business travellers that this is a long day - leave house at 07:30 with prospect of return at 23:00 -...

no contest as I'm sure we both agree.
there was a time when such a long day had sufficient compensation:
enjoyable full breakfast on the 6ish train going South, with spendid views of Berwickshire and Northumberland coast
+
full days work, including peace and quiet on a train thinking and...
I heard the news Today, oh boy
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather vague
Well I just had to laugh
I saw the phonograph

This traveller from Edinburgh used to prefer train to plane when traveling to London, and I used to enjoy the benefits that FC gave - peace, quiet and access to good food.
The changes made by EC have undermined all that.
I now find myself prefering to travel by plane. That may be challenged...
if Jonathan Cowap reads that thread then he has his opportunity to make plain to the EC MD that loss of the restuarant car is serious and should be re-considered as a matter of urgency.
I wish to travel by train from Edinburgh to London as a business traveller but will prefer the plane if I...
Yes, on open platters "egg or chicken?"
to which I was tempted to reply "which came first?"
But we had two of each, and swapped one each, therefore giving ourselves the dilemma of choosing which went first ...
Trolley returned within half an hour and we could have had another round each, but...
