Really depends whether it's the Alderley Edge's which misses a good few stations out, or the Stalybridge's which often stops at everything except Ince and Clifton!
When does the West Midlands 323 transfer begin ?
A 150 can beat even a 319 up to 15mph, initial acceleration is very slow on 319/769.
A 319 would then pull well ahead of a 150 after 15mph. A 769 in Diesel mode is slightly slower than a 150 throughout. A 769 in electric mode still feels very similar to a 319 despite the extra weight.
769's...
The 769s are sluggish on Diesel, the fact is they are slightly slower than a 150 and they are sluggish especially by todays standards where 331 has set the benchmark.
Between stations they can be doing 3 to 5mph less than a 150 would be at the same point.
In Electric mode they are much quicker...
Mixing railway enthusiasm with working on the Rails?
The main thing to consider is that enthusiasm for the railway may wear off when or if you get the job.
Any novelty of being around railways and trains wears off and it all starts to feel more mundane than it used to.
Yes I still feel...
I used to be a regular trainspotter before starting work on the railway. Now I never go trainspotting, as the novelty has worn off. I have never gone on any sort of railway day out for leisure since 2015 and even that was a one-off. That includes all forms of spotting, whether its photting...
More rediculous was Keith Heller who decided to scrap nearly every UK built locos and downsize EWS. At least Burkhardt was still keeping a lot of the UK built locos alongside the GM's and was increasing freight and it was still an interesting scene for the trainspotter.
I remember it being...
They seem to struggle to keep on time on the Diesel part of the journey often falling a minute or two behind then make time up on the Electric part of the journey. That's what I've seen looking on RTT.

Do all of the 769s have first class seats ?

I only just realised, RTT...
Well, the main issue comes from the fact that the DEMU only has two diesel engines generating 1000hp, while the 150/156 has four diesel engines generating 1140hp and is a lighter train as well!
They were always popular. But not as popular as the 56's and other Mega hit classes such as 37s and Peaks.
They were not the loudest locos, but not the quietest either. The noise they did make was good. They looked good as well.
I thought they were great. Out of the Type 5 freight diesels, I'd...
Will the 769 be able to keep up to the 150/156 timings ?
The Sprinters are hard pushed as it is to keep to time on the Southport line. Especially when it is required to stop at all stops.
The 769s apparantly have even poorer acceleration, at least in Diesel mode.
Was mainly spotting around the early 2000's and always thought anything rare showing up on freight (e.g. 31s, 33s, 08s on the mainline, 20s) was mega exciting.
Stopped spotting regularly around 2005 it went really boring 66's and units everywhere, then stopped spotting completely in 2013.
