The day before I caught the 1528 HST from Nottingham. The train manager said "we've got a bit of a poorly train" and that those continuing to London would have to change trains at Leicester It didn't seem to be going very quickly but it wasn't particularly late into Leicester. It had been late...
So what was going on exactly? Anyone know? My non-stop to Leicester EMT train was made to stop at Luton and Bedford - noticed they didn't seem to make the Derby train (which stops at bedford anyway) stop at Luton. Chaos on the boards when I got home as well but I doubt that has anything to do...
Well caught the 5:55 from London today - no hot drinks or food in First Class due to the heating implements. TM made one announcement apologising to first class customers. No announcements about where the train was going to or the lack of rail gourmet.
Are EMT having staffing problems? Can't...
Maybe things will improve now the sh** shoveller has gone. He presided over an increase in fares and a decline in service - particularly for season ticket holders. Then there's the decline in cleanliness of the trains. Never experienced such squalid conditions under MML. I always feel like I...
East Midlands Parkway should be renamed Ratcliffe Power Station. I do wonder who uses the station other than the £1 megabus folk. My friends in Donnington say it's too far and go to Long Eaton or Nottingham if they want the train. I think it has something to do with there being buses from those...
The following announcement was heard on EMT's 17:55 from London one day last week: "Due to the high numbers of passenger the trolley will remain stagnant in the buffet in the buffet car area..."
Not exactly the way to encourage your customers to buy your highly expensive wares. Then again I...
Managed to get caught up in this on the way back from London. The first train to leave was the 16:30 but they dumped all the stops before Wellingborough. That must have left say 17:50? I caught the 16:55 which left about 18:15 (they had to wait for the driver to arrive from an inbound service).
The minister has obviously never been on EMT's London trains. Some staff rarely make any announcements at all. It's happening more frequently. I do continually wonder if there are actually any staff - other than the driver- on the train.
Although I know where I'm going and which train I'm...
Aint that the truth. Almost 20 years ago now, I had reason to go to Watford on occasion. Turned out that it was quicker but more expensive to go through London. Took twice as long going via Birmingham. Nice to see that nothing has changed except the price of my ticket.
If they are going to build it in this Toton place they will need make sure it is connected to the local network by fast (125mph (does anything actually run at that speed?)) trains otherwise it runs of the risk of negating any benefit.
Thanks for all the suggestions. When I put in the journey the Leicester - MKC that planner thing only came up with the arrival at 8:44 one via Bedford. Good to know that there is one where I can get in earlier.
I actually phoned up National Rail Enquiries about going via Luton because I was a...
I need to go to Milton Keynes for work for a while. I don't drive and the bus drops you too far away from the centre, so I'm stuck with the train. I would like to get in around 8 but the only routing I can find is Leicester - Luton - MKC. With me catching a 5:26 train and sitting around at Luton...
Just go up to the information desk in front of the barriers - upstairs in St Pancras. They usually make an announcement telling Megabus ticket holders to go there.
I heard it was all politics. The government didn't want National Express having a lock on all the airports.
I'm convinced that it's a bloke who designed that colour scheme. Only a man would think those shades of yellow, red, orange and blue look good together. Then there is a completely...
Really? When will that happen then? Soon I hope. Some of the rail gourmet staff seem incapable of doing their job. The amount of times I've got on trains in London only to be confronted by rubbish that hasn't been collected (or they've been round collecting rubbish too soon). Or they rush...
Yes it would be very nice to have faster trains (although I doubt they would be that fast in the rush hour) but what is the point what is the point when the rest of the network is not being linked in. What is the point if it takes someone from a city not on a fast line an hour to travel 40 miles...
I travel on trains 3 hours a day, 5 days a week. I don't see the benefit of this investment. All it is doing is creating a 3 or 4 tier rail network. While they are wasting money on this vanity project what are they doing about the lines that are not electrified? Nothing. They are allowing them...
