Can anyone tell me, is there a way I can buy a ticket online from a TOC website which is effectively equivalent to a one-day zone 1-4 off-peak London travelcard, such that it can be collected from a machine at a national rail station?
Here's an example where this may be convenient...
I'm planning a Saturday daytrip from Liverpool Lime Street to York sometime in the next few weeks.
Off-peak return is £40.80
I can get it down to £34.20 by splitting at Stalybridge as follows:-
LIV-SYB £13.50
SYB-YRK £20.70
Does anyone know if there are better splits on this route...

If I was to buy a £9.90 off-peak day return from Liverpool stations to Manchester stations tomorrow, I'd probably leave Lime Street on either the 09:44 to Victoria or the 09:52 to Oxford Road. Either suits me fine.
