I don't see why it would be outdated compared to Asian metros. Siemens know what they're doing and they've always been at the forefront of train development and innovation. It's not for nothing the Chinese have spent decades spying and copying Europe. A bit easy to now say they're ahead of us...
I've never been a fan of describing as "futuristic" stuff that exists today. If it exists today, it's not the future.

It seems today every variant of a train is its own class, even when the differences are minor enough to have been considered subclasses 20...
Articulated buses can negotiate much tighter turns than rigid buses (10, 12, 13 m, etc.), because you only have to put the fairly short front section through and the trailer will follow (unlike semi-trucks).
Unfortunately it's the new world some people are working very hard to build...
