    Southeastern Snow Disruption - 11/12

I agree, I’d like to think if it was me I’d be able to catch a lift, ironically I am stuck here as a member of train crew and the firm can’t source any cabs so it seems it’s heads down tonight and hope for some form of a service in the AM

    Southeastern Snow Disruption - 11/12

Well I’d rather be in there than stuck out on a platform in 2 degree weather, no taxis available nor hotels so what choice is there?

    Southeastern Snow Disruption - 11/12

Yeah, the 110 pax or so currently sleeping in a berthed networker in the bay at Tonbridge may disagree!

    FLHH vs GBRf trainee driver

Can I ask what TOC and how you found the transition? Curious to know as this is something I’ve been thinking about if things don’t improve where I am anytime soon..

SIWW (Sundays In the Working Week)

Yeah I agree, speaking to other depots it’s purely down to extra routes/traction signed I believe? We do have a spare link which I didn’t include as there’s rarely anyone in there as there’s always been vacancy’s in the main roster. We do have drivers job sharing as well but again I sort of...

SIWW (Sundays In the Working Week)

SE driver here, our Sundays are inside and no links at our depot, just a 4 day week. Be it work Sunday Monday, RD Tues Weds Thurs and in Friday Sat. Usually my three RDs are off together but if I’m going from late turn to earlies then usually have the Sunday off and 2 in the week. Varies from...

ORR Passenger rail usage statistics April to June 2022 has been published

Worth noting that by certain TOCs just leaving their barriers wide open at numerous stations, they won’t ever get a true reading on actual passenger numbers!

    SE assessment day tonbridge

Yeah, bizarre because when I sat it in 2019 it was in the order I said, so I wonder when and why they changed it

    SE assessment day tonbridge

Can I ask when you did the assessment? When I had mine for SE, I did all of the OPC stuff back to back, then the MMI in the afternoon, then I had the DMI shortly after.

    Coasting Boards still relevant?

I would say I use coasting boards as maybe a landmark for a braking point on some journeys, so I hope they don’t get rid haha.

    Rail strikes discussion

We are one of the lowest paid driving grades in the country yet we are living in the second most expensive part of the UK, many of us drive 377’s for Southern which are paid a lot more, yet alone sharing messrooms with various drivers who are paid more than us when we have one of the busiest...

Out of curiosity - has anyone else been balloted by ASLEF? My letter has just arrived.

A career as a train driver

Isn’t that a little specific to you though? For example if I said, ‘oh yeah the bourden dots were an absolute piece of cake’. You didn’t pass them yourself Tibbins (I’m sure you will next time) - so saying something like it’s very easy simply isn’t true. But yes the low tone is always the first...

Southeastern Trainee Driver - All Depots - (20/09/21)

Sorry to hear you didn’t pass this time Tibbins, however - now you have the experience of this time under your belt, I’m sure you’ll smash it next time!

    Southeastern vs Thameslink

If you’ve already got the job as a trainee driver then my advice would be to grab that by the horns and get your key. Once you’ve got your key, do whatever you like. I’m sure the commute will be a pain but there are thousands that would love to be in your shoes. With regards to whom to work for...
