Can’t see wires going West of Newbury to be honest, I don’t think it’s worth it unless there’s enough freight and passenger services combined to justify it.
It would be the most logical outcome for the 222s and could still be based and maintained at Etches Park. I don’t think anyone really knows what the future holds for them at this stage!
I think the question os do these services need speeding up? Between London and Plymouth maybe but west of Plymouth are any of the towns served very major places? I’m not sure what benefit there is to speeding up services west of Plymouth. Liskeard, Bodmin, St Austell, Redruth and Camborne are...
Does anyone know what lines 755s are cleared to operate? Also which lines have they been on? I’m aware they have done London Liverpool Street to Norwich and Clacton but have they/can they do lines to Braintree, Southend, Southminster?
That 12 people may increase if the service was quicker and more reliable. I believe in recent years it has been quicker to go to London via Birmingham. Chiltern served Kidderminster for as long as I can remember- was it that much of a failure? Perhaps the route was too long via Birmingham and a...
Good Evening all
I’m just wondering if IETs are cleared for the Portsmouth-Cardiff route? I know there were issues with HSTs going via Hamble and certain bogies but I can’t find anything anywhere to suggest the IETs couldn’t run Cardiff-Portsmouth in terms of clearance. With 5 carriages it...
Does anyone know why they have opted for bi modes when the MML is supposed to be electrified (if it is completed)? Is it for diversionary flexibility or to do the runs via Corby, or simply because we didn’t/dont know MML wiring will be complete at the time of ordering?
I noticed while travelling to and from Devon last weekend with the Newport diversions a significant number of people boarded and alighted at Gloucester. I realise it is a 9 minute penalty fir calling at Gloucester but the HST I was on filled up at Gloucester towards Plymouth and coming back...
Yep we were on the same train! I managed to get a first class seat leaving EDB so I was lucky. Had there been LNER trains to KGX past Sunday I’d have gone that way.
They were leaving passengers behind at Leeds last Sunday on the 5 car Voyager I was on so they will be leaving more behind when the HSTs go. Ridiculous decision.
Don’t forget the Weston stoppers plus PAD-WSM which was meant to go hourly in the original plan and there was a plan for MAN-BRI XC services to extend to Exeter which would take it to 5tph - if of course those extra services ran.
