    Change of career

Im not saying one is better than the other. The Op said jobs were quite rare and he would keep his fingers crossed. I simply stated that Ftpe were advertising again soon and advised also to possibly look at a conductor or other railway job first to get a foot in the door as it may give him a...

    Change of career

You go on about london. The op lives in north west. Its about whats best for the op. I agree to some extent but being internal gives you more choice. Its basic maths. Lets say im a conductor and your a builder (a non railway person). There have been 20 advertisments the last year for...

    Change of career

Well after 10 years on the railway my ATOC has never recruited drivers externally and same goes for a number of others. If a job is advertised internal, only internal staff can apply. If a job is advertised external, both internal and external staff can apply. Common sense indicates there...

    Change of career

First Transpenine will be recruiting soon for trainee drivers for their Liverpool and Preston depots they are opening. If you can afford it financially i would also look at guards/conductor jobs as a foot in the door. Far more driver jobs are recruited internally.

Reading aboutthe DB shenker assessment you get told after the reaction if your successful. Those who are stay, those not can go home. Not sure if this...

    Station Assistant application with Merseyrail.

Im a guard and been on the stations for 8 years previously. All retailers and station assistant staff are taken on a probationary period for an initial 6 month contract. They are known as roll out staff and can work across the network. Merseyrail will not commit but a job is more or less...

    Big fare increase for Merseyrail

To clarify the TVM issuing instructions. To get the DAY SAVER ticket you need to look up Ranger/Rover on the TVM. Its under that heading but unfortunately, Merseyrail assume that all customers would have a crystal ball to know this. Probably a deliberate attemt to make the customer pay more.

    Big fare increase for Merseyrail

They seem to want to focus on customer service yet they are going backwards. A lot of managers have been out this week giving out free umbrellas to soften the blow. Why could they not be out next week when the new ticket comes in explaining to customers why some have to pay an increase of...

    Big fare increase for Merseyrail

To be honest this new Day saver ticket can only be used on Merseyrail trains so Broadgreen should not be affected as its on the City Line but don't take that as gospel. This mean the CDR ticket may still be available. As for complaining i dont think there is any grounds unfortunately. They...

    Big fare increase for Merseyrail

Quite simply a backdoor price increase without it being official. Having already penalised railpass customers for the engineering work by not giving out a refund they feel they need to target the Off peak travellers. For some will only mean a 5 or 10p increase. The bigger gap come with a...
