    Proposed Overground frequency increases

Southern are getting a net increase in stock so perhaps longer trains are on the way. The previous government ordered them to enact big cuts after covid with two whole fleets being scrapped without replacement. The entire fleet serving metro routes being one. The trains were old but ditching...

Will South London’s Covid cuts be reversed?

Demand /recovery was suppressed when services were reduced. Demand grows when services improved. Surely we've seen enough evidence of that now? Looking at the latest passenger figures the Brentford loop does need restoration beyond 2tph. Many stations up 5-10 per cent again. 2tph and just...

    Southeastern metro fleet replacement/improvement

Many thanks. So the plan is to keep 122 465 Networkers and 16 466s until any new order enters service?

    Southeastern metro fleet replacement/improvement

I've lost track of total 465 and 466 numbers. How many of each have been sent to scrap, how many planned to be withdrawn and how many of each will remain in service? Wiki says 119 465s and 20 466s in service but I'm not sure that's up to date.

ORR estimates of station usage 2024/25

Yep impressive growth. All the main stations on the line from Norwich (not sure about the halts) also seem to have seen big annual growth and above 2019 levels.

    DLR B23 Stock (CAF Inneo)

Wasn't the Newcastle Metro and Mersey rail stock introductions also the victim of numerous issues and delays? They're Stadler aren't they?

    Southeastern metro fleet replacement/improvement

Makes sense but if that's the reason it achieves sod all. They're stifling with white roofs. God knows how bad without. Worst train IMO for summer heat. The windows are useless. Plenty of other non air con stock can get a decent breeze going such as Networkers (ventilation balls help on some...

Actual 377 and 387 Cascades (GN, SN, SE)

    Many thanks for the reply

Actual 377 and 387 Cascades (GN, SN, SE)

Someone else asked earlier but I don't think there was a reply; are Networkers still running on any routes that aren't metro now the 13x377s have moved over? Eg any to Tunbridge Wells and if so how many?

    Beaulieu Park Station Construction

If it's one urban conurbation it makes sense to have the same fare. Clearly not when a massive city and Chelmsford isn't a massive city. Given it appears the new station is on the edge and new housing so far is almost equidistant between Chelmsford and the new station, logic dictates setting...

Beckton Riverside (DLR) station location and service pattern

Thanks. That makes Thamesmead less appealing for many compared to the Elizabeth line from Abbey Wood if a change needed to reach central London (though Tower Gateway isn't the best of locations anyway)

Beckton Riverside (DLR) station location and service pattern

Beckton Riverside station plans have been around for many years now. The Dagenham Dock extension proposal included it as does the Thamesmead plan. The difference is where it would head east. The current station for Beckton would retain 4 tph maybe? Depends if the big retail warehouse next door...

What is the fastest realistic Dartford-London Bridge journey time if demand for an express existed?

Yep the semi-fasts was quick via Woolwich until the 2010s when first diverted via Lewisham instead of Greenwich then the Thameslink programme work begun and it was scrapped. The flipside then was more trians. Then some services were cut so now fewer services and also no semi fasts!

    Southeastern metro fleet replacement/improvement

Add in the customary delays and best case scenario 2033/34 for full introduction?

    DLR B23 Stock (CAF Inneo)

How many of the older stock has already been scrapped, and how much miles do the remaining units have in operation until exams I wonder? Autumn is often the busiest time of the year and running around with short trains isn't helping at all.

    Southeastern metro fleet replacement/improvement

Little new in that speech. On board battery has been mentioned for replacement fleet for years. Still no closer to the treasury/DfT giving the green light. The top end of the range for new stock put out more than three years ago only covers like for like Networker replacement so no chance of a...

DLR Thamesmead extension - the logical conclusion

Not for most of Thamesmead. 3-5 mins on a bus to Abbey Wood or 3-5 mins on a bus to north Thamesmead where DLR planned. One has more frequent trips and is faster (Abbey Wood) compared to DLR. If in west Thamesmead or parts of the north it's 5 mins to Woolwich stations. Given DLR doesn't go...

DLR Thamesmead extension - the logical conclusion

Yep. Bus to Abbey Wood then Liz line is faster than any DLR extension for pretty much the entirety of Thamesmead. Can't see who'll use it given it's slower and less frequent. Another way to reach east London areas such as Stratford or parts of east London is EL to Stratford via Whitechapel. Or...

    Southeastern metro fleet replacement/improvement

Regardless it's been a very slow process from the invitation to tender being first issued in 2022. Two years later came a shortlist. Is it normal for a tender to take four years to reach final business case status? At this rate new stock in service by 2030 IF the Treasury agrees? And that is...
