I’ve found the strikes have made contending with engineering works and other disruption harder.
A recent example, I was recently due to travel from Nottingham to London. The MML was blocked due to weekend engineering works, so I deferred my journey to Monday 12th December.
Due to a freight...
I learned to drive when I was a teenager, primarily due to encouragement from my father so I could pick him up from the pub in the evenings. I briefly owned a car, which proved to be an expensive mistake.
I've just never liked driving, have no interest in cars, nor places that are built around...
EMR have set up a page for Storm Eunice. On Friday, one train per hour will operate between St Pancras and Nottingham and between St Pancras and Sheffield, with journey times significantly extended...
I remember when I used to commute regularly from Nottingham station. They would regularly repeat pointless announcements like "CCTV is in operation at this station for the purposes of safety and security management".
Personally, I don't mind on board train announcements. What is annoying, on...
I was travelling on a train out of St Pancras this morning and there was a quite a crowd by the HST on Platform 4.
As a regular user of the MML for over 20 years I'll certainly miss these trains. It's a great shame many have not been able to see them given a fitting send off.
The East Midlands Railway website is giving slightly different information to the MML upgrade website. I can see from NRE trains from London St Pancras to Nottingham appear to be operating largely as normal up until Christmas Eve. Then there are no direct trains from 27 December to 1 January...
Just looking at NR timetables for Christmas and New Year. The MML upgrade website says there will be no services north of Bedford from 21 - 28 December. Though, the NR timetable currently has direct trains from London St Pancras to Nottingham up to Christmas Eve, with no direct trains from 27...
A quick heads up for those who intend to travel to/from St Pancras over the Christmas period. There will be no trains north of Bedford from St Pancras between 21 and 28 December.

I travelled from London St Pancras to Nottingham today. There are some EMR posters on the concourse at St Pancras. The First Class signs on the internal HST doors had EMR branding. The name of the on train WiFi has also changed to EMR. No mention from the train manager on the PAs that this...
Brightline has acquired the rights to build a new line from Las Vegas to Southern California. They claim that construction of the first section to Victorville will start next year and will open in 2022.

Lisa Nandy MP for Wigan has claimed during Prime Minister's Questions that she has received leaked e-mails from within the Department for Transport concerning rail in the North.
These e-mails describe certain Northern routes as "valueless" and discuss whether to propagate myths to distract from...
A dedicated microsite has now been launched for the Derby resignalling project which takes place between 22 July and 7 October this year:

There's now a lot of signage on the Northern Line giving warning that stations will be busier.

Hard to tell before the event whether there is an element of repeating the London 2012 Olympics of giving worst case...
I'd be interested to hear views on whether the claims in this story are true.
I thought extra capacity was to be added at London St Pancras together with additional track between Bedford and Kettering...
I think on the whole EMT have done a decent job.
The London St Pancras services are generally very reliable and they've done the best they can do with the rolling stock they were handed on the local services.
Though, I was quite unimpressed when EMT did a PR campaign promoting "Nottingham in...
Rush hour last night was truly terrible.
The Tube was effectively inaccessible in the West End with a whole swathe of stations shut due to overcrowding Oxford Circus is regularly exit/interchange only during the evening peak, but I've never seen crowds as bad as pictured in the Standard...
The National Infrastructure Commission has published its interim report on the East-West corridor:

It is somewhat ironic that East Midlands Trains are promising Nottingham - London St Pancras in 90 minutes when this is what we were promised after the last set of MML improvements, which ultimately amounted to just one train a day.
