I presume it will be for the Southern / GX side of operations and they will run alongside the other 387/2s. There is still the rumour that 379s will replace 387/1s on the Great Northern routes, but nobody I spoke to at Hornsey a couple of weeks ago are aware it is going to happen. That doesn't...
Go-ahead awarded the contract to run GTR for the next six years (Ok three years with a three year extension option)

The DFT have announced today that Go-ahead have been awarded the contract to operate GTR for six years (three years with a three year option). As part of that contract all six 387/3s will transfer to GTR when their leases expire at the end of June.
You are correct. The 377/5 units are leased by Southern who then sub-lease them to SouthEastern. Southern could end that sub-lease as per their agreed contracts, and it sounds like that will be the case.
Yes, three of the 387/3s are still with GWR, but this sub-lease will end soon. They will all end up with Southern as they are being replaced by new build Aventra's anyway (eventually).
I would imagine the Ely fleet will be used as spares for the Scotrail and GWR fleets as and when required. And so I would hope they are looking after them.
Yes, they have been drained of fluids and the MTU engine control modules etc removed, but other than regularly being moved around the yard to prevent bearing brinnelling they have been left out in the open at Long Marston. Cold weather and not running them up regularly has not been kind to them...
I doubt that the SWR Twitter team are aware of the full contractual details of the 456 fleet, but will have been made aware that the 456s will be out of service from Monday, and so their official line will be that they are withdrawn.
I seriously doubt you will see a 456 in service after the...
There are no 456s diagrammed to work from Monday that is SWR’s decision. They will go to Long Marston for storage approx 8 units per month from Jan to March.
What could be interesting though is that they aren’t withdrawn, just not being utilised. There may be a slim possibility that if...
8 x 456s due to move to Long Marston in January (I don’t know the date). 8 more in February and the final 8 in March. In store for 12 months then off for scrap.
Chiltern are already in a bi-mode battery trial

In this case the TOC as they would be the ones paying for the overhaul
The funders being the TOC i.e. First Group, funding can be found if required. 458512 requires C6 and this has been agreed to keep the unit in service such are the availability problems at present
