This seems to be the case with Nottingham City Transport. Their numbering evolved over time and largely had no recognisable pattern by 2001. The whole network was recast in that year, and numbers used in sequence, and groups of numbers representing the areas served. Over time since, gaps have...
Sawley Xpress and Long Eaton Xpress became largely assimilated into Skylink Nottingham. This corridor has seem a fair bit of comings and goings in the last few years.
And the Y36 going soon too. Remember the Y35? Registered with months of notice at the same time as the Y28 but never operated...
I am surprised that the obvious hasn't been stated in this thread. It is poor customer service to over-reserve a train, particularly commuter trains, one ones where seating is unacceptably short. I'm not surprised that XCs' 4 car voyagers are the subject of the OP.
I would be upset if I was reported to branch for failings, if I had not had chance to monitor members' wishes or requirements. It is likely that approaching the rep(s) involved will get results. Only then would I recommend escalation. Standing forward at re-election time could help too!
There are a lot of examples of "rationalisations" done in the last 30 years, which with hindsight were awful. Worcester is a grand example.
I also struggle with the design of the train / platform interface at some new stations. Coleshill parkway, a new station, has a huge step down from a...
There is a lot of supposition on how the grid is balanced going on here: can I suggest a look at http://www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk to see how it is really done. The reality is that nuclear is base load, as is hydro. Coal and oil dont do very much, renewables are intermittent, backed up with...
I was coming to this conclusion too. There are a lot of these types of "consultations" all the time. Mostly bits of nothing. It is interesting that the telegraph is the only significant source. A slow news day?
Good night for NCT at the UK bus awards: 4th time UK bus operator of the year gold winner and top city operator. Reading and Lothian also do well. A good night for municipal operators in fact.
I think this can be how the system determines what is next. At my local station two running lines converge and the station's berth is where they can both step into. If a freight train is standing at a red, the PIS will display "the next train does not stop here" will remain until the passenger...
This sort of defeats the"do it yourself" technology trend. We used to be able to query the database ourselves on a real time basis, which was always up to date. Now we get a report, which probably has a fair amount of manual input and is still up to a week out of date.
That is rather sad. I would have expected trams to have been more accurate since they have a signalling system of sorts. The real time tram times seem pretty good here in Nottingham.
I seem to remember GOOD -BYE at Trent after it closed. Also seen PANT DOWN for EMUs stabled overnight. WL1521 RUST is probably an indication of TC issues, and a favourite hiding deep in my logs

No less reason to electrify it though. XC would still need bimodals though, since I can't see Bromsgrove - Cheltenham - Chipping Sodbury being electrified any time soon.
As for the main EM routes, there are some quick wins that could be achieved with the correct specification of new rolling...
Any thoughts on why they are doing this? It looks to me that they have kept the core services in the main brand, and gives off the more peripheral city routes. But setting up a sister company is more than just branding.
