Good nickname that... When I've got time on my hands I always wait a bit longer at Slough or Reading to take an HST instead!:-D Luckily I've got a ticket for a Hereford bound service between Slough and Reading on Thursday, which I think is an HST. That being said, FGW's website tried to reserve...
I thought most of the 165s got into Thames Train's livery, before being reliveried into a hybrid 'First Great Western Link' livery, before the current 'Neon' livery?
Havana is the most amazing place I've ever been. Absolutely wonderful, if you can go then do. We have friends living in the Cayman Islands, so hopped across on Cayman Airways (www.caymanairways.com), and the fare wasn't too bad either (just got to get to Cayman, though Cayman is a great place in...
OK, my opinion here, but they overwork their cabin staff (the ones who would get you out in an emergency), by pushing them right to the limit. There is no legal limit for cabin crew hours (or none that I know of), and tired cabin crew would not react properly in an accident. On one emergency...
Not sure the EU would like that much... :D
MegaTrain is basicaly SWT's cheapo advance ticketing isn't it? I use FGW's advance all the time. Means I can go in first class, for less than a standard 'cheap day' ticket, which I like.
The problem with having a new '3rd class' would be that it...
I'm planning a large layout in the attic. Latest purchase was a Hornby Class 50 in NSE livery, for £49,99, which was a very good price. I've got a slightly eclectic fleet, from a Hornby Pendo to a Collet Goods....
London-Edinburgh with a high speed (think 220mph, not 150mph) would be cheaper, and in my opinion better value... and doesn't need new stations. I think that the 4 'biggest' 125mph routes in the country should be significantly upgraded to at least 300km/h (same as the Eurostar) electrics. ECML...
Very sleek that 500 Series one. Don't like the interior though, it's a bit to airline for my liking, complete with 5 abreast seating! The prettiest high speed trains are definitely the ICE 3s though...
First Great Western's First Class is cheap... try it, it's very nice. Some have said that it's not as nice as others, but at those low prices, I'm not that fussed!
Edit: I'd never fly ryanair unless you paid me several thousand £s to do so. Serious safety issues there... (I'm bit of a plane...
Isn't Oldfield Park in Bath?
Didn't know that there were hooligans in that part of Bath. Looks like Commuterville from the train... as opposed to a mini version of Slough! :D
Max, how'd your Geography go? Did you do the investigation paper? I think I did really well on the other parts, but the investigation paper was horrible. There was a question about pie charts for 10 marks, I couldn't think what to write!
Last saturday I saw something in Southern's livery pull into Bedford. It was coupled to something in the old Thameslink colours. I'm short sighted, and was waiting to race at Bedford Regatta (I row), so couldn't tell which types they were, as I was on the river further towards the town centre...
I don't see why standard class passengers couldn't order those things from the buffet car, and then carry them back to their seat. I lament the Restaurant car... and I'd love to try a proper meal on a train. Unfortunately, as I've got school, I mainly travel at weekends (it's the only time I'd...
