West Midlands Trains "Destination Manchester" - will it happen?

From Stafford the service looks to go to Wolverhampton then via Tame Bridge to Birmingham - which could help relieve overcrowding on CrossCountry for travellers commuting between Stoke and Birmingham

Stoke-on-Trent Rail link to Manchester Airport

The MP only raising this after LNWR have already publicly announced plans for the route is a desperate attempt to appear they've done something when in reality they had nothing to do with it

New Birmingham to Manchester link proposed- post NPR

Has any town been let down more than Crewe over the last 5 years? From an accelerated hub on the HS2 network to no funding for a Manchester - Birmingham link with no funding or guarantee it will serve Crewe; no funding for the much needed station remodelling or Weaver Junction increased...

Lumo Expansion - FirstGroup make further applications

I see only 2 southbound and 4 northbound services call at Crewe. Its a shame more services haven't been able to call as Crewe - Preston is only hourly for most of the day, and extra services would really improve connectivity between East Lancashire and Wales / Midlands

I think it will be a modified 37/42 service as the aim is to connect Northwich, Winsford and Middlewich to Leighton Hospital on Sundays

It may not be funded by Cheshire East - it could be funded by Manchester Airport Group, as part of their expansion they have to ensure a certain amount of passengers use public transport so could be funded that way. Guess we will have to wait and see 1766480034 This proposal is currently under...

    D&G Buses

I think there is demand on Friday/Saturday evenings as Nantwich has numerous bars and a nightclub, whereas Crewe has a large population so can serve both quite well. Also, Crewe has the Lyceum Theatre and shows end at around 2130-2200 so a later bus would be beneficial to serve that.

West Midlands Trains "Destination Manchester" - will it happen?

Think the concern is that for passengers on the line heading south (to London, Wales etc) they will now have to go up to Manchester Piccadilly and down again increasing pressure at Manchester Piccadilly. The Crewe service may not be the most used but does take passengers off the Manchester leg...

West Midlands Trains "Destination Manchester" - will it happen?

Two trains an hour between Manchester Airport and Crewe would be ideal to boost connectivity and reduce car use to the airport. Hopefully the service will operate later than the existing services as well as on Sundays which may assist in modal shift.

West Midlands Trains "Destination Manchester" - will it happen?

Any loss of Sandbach/Holmes Chapel/Alderley Edge - Manchester Airport will be a loss but potentially the wider benefits would be greater. The loss of connectivity from South Manchester (Didsbury, Gatley etc.) to Crewe will reduce connectivity and could lead to more pressure on Manchester...

West Midlands Trains "Destination Manchester" - will it happen?
